Hola mis amigos y familia negra,
Don't know español muy bueno? Well that's okay because in this recent backdoor L.A. Council meeting that involves 4 Latino individuals (Nury Martinez, Kevin de León, Gil Cedillo, and Ron Herrera), not only are English and Spanish spoken, but aquí se habla racismo (racism is spoken here) as well. And by racism I mean full-blown, vitriolic anti-Black racism. In the leaked audio recording of the meeting, all 4 Latinos (including the 3 Democratic LA Council members) can be heard:
- spewing anti-Black rhetoric,
- expressing anti-Black sentiments,
- planning on and boasting about how they will undermine Black political and socioeconomic power,
- and bragging about gerrymandering districts and how Black people and our voices essentially don't matter because according to Kevin de Leon, "they (referring to the Black people in Los Angeles) shout like they're 250 when there's 100 of us (Latinos)" anyway.
There's More Racism Where That Came From
Here are some of the highlights of the infamous racist recording that sounds straight out of a Klan rally:- In the recording, Council President Nury Martinez says of Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, “F-ck that guy, he’s with the Blacks.”
- Martinez says of the adopted Black son of Councilmember Mike Bonin: There’s nothing you can do to control him “parece changuito” (“looks like a little monkey”).
- Martinez proceeds to express how she wants to beat and basically commit child abuse on the adopted Black son of Bonin. “This kid needs a beatdown. Let me take him around the corner, I’ll bring him right back.”
- Martinez, de León, Cedillo, and Herrera discuss Black political power in Los Angeles and what Kevin de León refers to as “the Wizard of Oz effect.”
- Cedillo says, "25 or so are Black. And 25 Blacks are shouting." In response, Kevin De Leon adds, "But they shout like they're 250. When there's 100 of us."
- Herrera says, “If he (Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas) resigns — hold on — if he resigns, and the African Americans look at this as a hostile takeover because he’s gone, we’ll have to figure this out, because politically they’re going to come after this."
- Martinez also says she sees a lot of short, dark people in K-town. Cedillo jokes about the height of Mexicans from Oaxaca. Martinez says she doesn’t know what “village” they are from, and says “tan feo” (meaning "so ugly" in Spanish) in reference to them.
Profiles in Racismo
Racist #1: Nury Martinez
Nury Martinez is a disgraced, anti-Black racist American politician who served as a member of the Los Angeles City Council for the 6th district from 2013 until her inevitable resignation on October 12, 2022. She reluctantly resigned with a non-apology that dogwhistled to her fellow racist, young, aspirational Latinas everywhere with this message: “To all little Latina girls across the city, I hope I’ve inspired you to dream beyond that which you can see." - Nury Martinez
Translation from English to Racist:
Looking like a scary, rageful, hateful, monstrous, aggressive, miserable, power-hungry, narcissistic, angry, hungry, older, racist, dark white, Latino Soho Karen in that picture above. That is the real Nury Martinez.
Racist #2: Kevin de León
Kevin de León is a current anti-Black racist member of the Los Angeles City Council in California, representing District 14. He assumed office on October 15, 2020 and refuses to step down and resign, saying "I regret appearing to condone and even contribute to certain insensitive comments made about a colleague and his family in private... I’ve reached out to that colleague personally."
Kevin de León has not resigned and refuses to resign from the L.A. Council.
Racist #3: Gil Cedillo
Gilbert Anthony Cedillo is another anti-Black racist American politician, serving as a member of the Los Angeles City Council for the 1st district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Cedillo was previously a member of both the California State Assembly and the California State Senate. Gilbert Anthony Cedillo too has not resigned and refuses to resign from the L.A. Council.
Racist #4: Ron Herrera
Ron Herrera, President of Los Angeles County Federation of Labor (@lalabor) & Secretary-Treasurer, Teamsters Local 396 (@local_396 #UnionStrong Ron Herrera resigned as president of the L.A. County Federation of Labor on October 10, 2022. BUT, is he still the Secretary-Treasurer? I would like to know.
The Aftermath of the Leaked Tapes
This story is continuously developing. As of October 17, 2022, Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León have been stripped of City Council committee posts over the racist leaked meeting. But that is not enough. Both of them need to resign and all 4 of these corrupt racists need to be punished and investigated to the fullest extent of the law. Why aren't these 4 Latino officials being met with RICO charges, lawsuits, and criminal investigation? Because I'm absolutely sure that if these 4 political individuals were Black and saying negative remarks about non-Black groups in a public meeting, they would've been treated like those Black educators who were vilified and criminalized in that 2015 Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal. If you want to know how and why Black people are continuously facing oppressive hardship, injustice, and resource deprivation and have been and still are being genocided in Los Angeles and California, just look at the anti-Black people running it to the ground. I can't help but wonder what racist policies and decisions these Latino officials made with their hateful, anti-Black racist and prejudiced mindsets. Someone or some non-biased agency needs to look at their records, voting history, policies, legislations, and decisions because I bet there is a direct correlation between Black Californians / Black Los Angelenos suffering and the anti-Black policies and decisions that these 4 of many Latino officials have made. How is this fairness, equality and equity again?
But to add salt to injury, you had Nury Martinez posting phony, flowery, feel good, PC crap after she initially won the election in her district back in 2019:

That One Time Joe Biden Got Something Right
Remember what Anti-Black Racist Joe Biden said back in November / December 2020 after he won the election?
This is what Joe Biden infamously told Black people to our faces while wrongfully and arrogantly blaming us for America's downfall.
A venomous spit in the face. It's insane to me how Joe Biden wants us Black people to work more with these anti-Black racist Hispanics as white numbers continue to fall. These non-Blacks are against us and will happily not hesitate to replace, terrorize and oppress us even after whites fade from the picture entirely. Much like whites, non-Blacks as a collective are not our friends either and they too are our open enemies. Biden, these Democrats, and even many Republicans have let the floodgates open, opened our borders, and flooded the country with anti-Black racist illegals and anti-Black racist immigrants that will serve their racist white masters and their white interests as they help to keep their collective boots and knees on our Black necks. Understand something. These non-Blacks as a collective have been vetted carefully by the white dominant society. They are not our allies and unfortunately never will be. Same with the whites. They are smiling in our faces while stabbing us in the back.
The Leaked Tape is Not Isolated, It's Status Quo in Latino Cultures
This LA Council racist meeting scandal is not an isolated incident and must not be treated as such. We've seen various, non-stop displays of anti-Black racism from the Latino community and other non-Black groups time and time again. From the likes of the Soho Karen in NYC, George Zimmerman, white nationalist and white supremacist Nick Fuentes, Enrique Tarrio of the Proud Boys, Nikolas Cruz (racist mass school shooter of Parkland, Florida), Ted Cruz, George Lopez, Tekashi 6ix9ine, Latino NK (N1GG3R KILLER) gangs that terrorize Black people throughout California and elsewhere, Fat Joe disrespecting Black Americans by falsely claiming Latinos created Hip Hop "50/50", Gina Rodriguez saying the n-word, Jennifer Lopez screaming "what about Latinas" when Black people get a piece of the pie, and countless more examples.
You see, we Black people of the grassroots have been saying that this whole Negro y Marrón, Black and Brown, People of Color, Rainbow, Minority Coalition is a white media myth and dangerous lie for a very, very long time now. And we have been wrongfully called "divisive", "racist", and "xenophobic" for calling it out. Now that the cat is finally out of the bag thanks to this racist meeting being leaked for the world to see and hear, this proves that we were right all along. This is exactly why shouting the words "Black and Brown" is a verbally violent insult akin to the other anti-Black racist coded phrases such as "White Power", "Blue Lives Matter", "White Lives Matter", and "ALL Lives Matter." These racist code phrases are used as a means to either subliminally attack us or to lump Black people in with groups that are hostile and racist to Black people, if not to undermine our causes while gaslighting us entirely. To be frank, these phrases are all part of the language of a soft, but gradual genocide of Black people as they do nothing to serve us and everything to harm and neglect us.
It does everything to fool us into thinking that our enemies are our allies, that racists need to be admired and listened to, and that our plight is equal to everyone else's. No, Black people's oppression is not the same as everyone else's problems. It's beyond time for people to retire insulting, empty words and phrases like "Black and Brown", "minorities", "people of color", "underserved communities", "we're all in this together", "united stand, divided we fall", "we're all equal", "we're all one", "we're all the same", "melting pot", "diversity", "inclusion", "I don't see color", "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere", etc.
A History of Immigrants Perpetuating Anti-Black Racism
It's bad enough that during the 1800s and 1900s, America imported a bunch of racist white immigrants (Irish, Italians, Germans, Polish, etc.) from Europe that Black Americans were discriminated, assaulted, oppressed, lynched, spat on, terrorized, murdered, mistreated and abused by as the American white descendants of the Pilgrims, Puritans, Royalists, British / Scot-Irish American colonizers, and slave owners participated in and spearheaded our oppression. And during and prior to Civil Rights Movement, the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. advocated and fought for the immigration of non-Anglo Saxon people (such as African people, Caribbean people, Latino people, and Asian people) as they believed that Black people could form an alliance with these groups since they too faced some sort of discrimination for being non-Anglo Saxon. Unfortunately, they didn't realize how anti-Black and disloyal these collective groups were and still are.
Looking back, I truly wish they and others didn't fight for the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. Now you have countless racist immigrants (including the illegal ones thanks to legislation like DACA) undermining, spitting on, and discriminating against the Black Americans who helped paved the way for them with our ancestors' sacrifices. You have jobs and positions being outsourced to non-Black groups. You have Black neighborhoods being attacked and taken over by racist Latino gangs and their people under the noses of those like Nury Martinez and others. You have Black employees being pushed out and discriminated against and potential employees not being hired by racist Latino staff because they aren't "bilingual" (code phrase for "not Latino.") And you have Black wealth and net worth decreasing while whites' and non-Black groups' wealth and net worth are increasing. Yet, anti-Black Racism has cost the economy at least $16 trillion in the 21st Century alone.
Latinos Have Constantly Pushed for "White" Status in the USA
America does not need any more anti-Black racists of any race or ethnicity being imported into this country. Latin America is historically anti-Black and the racism is very deep rooted. The Spanish and Portuguese were some of the earliest anti-Black colonizers of this world. In Latin America, the blancos (whites) are of the ruling class while virtually all of the Black Latinos are destitute, ignored, oppressed, and invisible. The mestizos and mixed Latinos are in the middle of the racial hierarchy, they're not white, but they're not Black either. Latinos as a group worship whiteness, practice white supremacy, believe in Mejorar La Raza (improving the race by procreating with lighter and whiter Latinos) and believe in the lie that their issue is solely about classism and colorism rather than racism.
If it's not about racism, then why are Black Latinos gawked at and told by the non-Black Latinos that they are not "real Latinos" just because of their race alone? And speaking of Latinos and their historic racism and prejudice against Black people, while Martin Luther King Jr. and many other Black leaders were sympathetic to and welcoming of these immigrants and non-whites, this is what the Latino leaders of the 20th Century were saying in regards to race, Black people, Negro Americans, and our Civil Rights Organizations and Movement:
- Hector Garcia, founder of the American G.I. Forum
- John J. Herrera, LULAC president (1952) (hmmm… is this Ron Herrera's father or relative?)
- Felix Tijerina, Mexican-American president of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens (1956)
- Gus Garcia, Mexican American civil rights attorney
The Black and Brown Unity Myth Must Die
The racist apple (Nury Martinez and company) doesn't fall far from the racist tree (Gus Garcia and company). Let this be a lesson to all Black Americans. Democrats aren't any less racist than Republicans, and non-white people aren't any less anti-Black racist than white people are. We are all we got. We have no collective allies. It would be in our best interest to ally with other Black Americans, build with each other, and fight for ourselves only. The "Black and Brown" Coalition isn't dead. Because it has never existed and it wasn't alive in the first place. And you can't lose what you never had. Nury Martinez said, “F-ck that guy, he’s with the Blacks.” To that I say, "F*ck This B*tch. She's with the racists!"
