The digital streets have been set ablaze with the ongoing beef between social media personalities Taharka Bey and Tariq Nasheed. While net denizens tune in religiously to hear the latest drama, what many are unaware of is what sparked the tension and what is causing it to persist. To put it simply, the two are beefing because Bey hosted a series of programs questioning the merits of the FBA designation which upset Nasheed and led to him accusing Bey of being a Registered Sex Offender. We will now go into detail on how the beef began.
At commencing of the program, Nasheed fans immediately descended upon Taharka which made the discussion shift from a community analysis to a conversation specifically focused on FBA and Tariq specifically. Throughout the discussion, Taharka made it clear that he didn’t have an issue with Tariq Nasheed but he did question the merits and importance of FBA as a designation.
He also made it clear that in his opinion, separating from the diaspora was less important than coming together as a community to build, support, and defend the institutions we require. When the FBA proponents were asked what their movement was doing to help the Black community build as a people, they were unable to provide any information and/or examples.
Their collective inability to present anything tangible yielded from the FBA designation prompted Taharka Bey to make a follow-up program asking for clarity from FBA directly.

The FBA adherents' rebuttal to Bey's claim was that FBA’s importance is in the fact that it helps identify Black Americans in the USA as a unique people with its own culture and customs. Taharka’s response was that the motivation is good but if it’s not yielding anything tangible it’s meaningless rhetoric. Unfortunately, the FBA adherents were not able to present anything that showed that FBA moved beyond or is positioning itself to move beyond meaningless rhetoric. Normalizing the usage of logical fallacies to respond to inquiries is a bad precedent to start and one that cannot be put back in the bottle once set into motion.
While Taharka Bey constantly tried to correct the narrative and inform the masses that he had no issue with Tariq Nasheed, his own thumbnail was the match on the gasoline soaked wood. While we believe that Taharka Bey is operating in good faith it was still a misstep.

Taharka Bey hosted a program titled “To many Scammers and Schemers: WHO’s Real?” with the goal of discussing who is and who is not real within the New Black Media and surrounding community. The Beef Gets Physical in Los Angeles, CA
Taharka Bey Goes to Los Angeles, CA to File Defamation Suit Against Tariq Nasheed | Feb 9th, 2023
Due to the accusations made by Tariq Nasheed on 10/25/22, Taharka Bey claimed to have experienced damage to his business reputation and finances. As a result, he decided to travel to California to file suit against Tariq Nasheed via the Los Angeles County Superior Court system. To make the trip even more fruitful, Bey decided to drive by the Hidden History Museum in person to get footage that he could share on his program.Case Filed in California but You Won't Believe What Just Happened!
History Wasn't the Only Thing Hidden at the Museum | Feb 9th, 2023
While examining the outside of the Hidden History Museum, Bey was unaware that Nasheed was within proximity. In video supplied by Bey, Tariq can be seen driving a large SUV in pursuit of Bey. After exiting the SUV, Tariq Nasheed can be seen walking down Taharka Bey and taking a large telegraphed swing towards Bey's face. Whether the slap connected is disputed as Bey claims to have dodged it while Nasheed went on Twitter instantly to say that it connected. What actually happened is between those two men but Bey did state that he extended his trip to file an additional case against Nasheed.Takeaways From the Beef
There are some key lessons to be learned from this entire fiasco.Lesson 1: Learn How to Receive and Respond to Criticism in a Respectful Manner
Tariq Nasheed’s unwillingness to address the Black community with any level of respect (unless asking for donation) is the root of the entire issue. If he would have addressed Taharka Bey’s valid critiques of FBA in a respectful manner it would have created further awareness of FBA's goals and ambitions. Instead, Tariq Nasheed responded with jokes, name calling, deflection, and doxxing which not only left the issues unaddressed but led to an altercation and lawsuit.But not did the back and forth lead to tension, it also robbed the community of the opportunity to learn. Lesson 2: Do Not Make Overly General Statements
Tariq Nasheed was not 100% wrong for taking Taharka Bey’s comments as shade because Taharka Bey inadvertently called him a Scammer in the thumbnail for “To many Scammers and Schemers: WHO’s Real?”While Taharka Bey constantly tried to correct the narrative and inform the masses that he had no issue with Tariq Nasheed, his own thumbnail was the match on the gasoline soaked wood. While we believe that Taharka Bey is operating in good faith it was still a misstep.
Do Not Pull Up On Someone's Block That You Have Beef With
Taharka Bey made another mistake by pulling up to the Hidden History Museum after over 8 videos had been created going at Tariq Nasheed. It would have been better for him to send someone unknown to get the footage to avoid any issues.More to Come...
