BET Backs The Police 🚓🚨?

One of the tools of the Black Community used to jump start the prison industrial complex is what come to mind when I received 📨 this email...
Dear Roland,

How can BET — Black Entertainment Television — fund and enable police violence against Black people? Considering the cultural impact the network has as an outlet and platform for Black people, the hypocrisy is glaring. What they do behind the scene matters.

That has not stopped BET’s president Scott Mills from sitting on the New York City Police Foundation’s board anyway, despite the foundation funneling money and weapons to the NYPD. Along with that, BET’s parent company Paramount has donated to that same police foundation, and one of its directors is also sitting on its board.1

Call BET and Paramount out on their hypocrisy. Tell their executives to get off the NYC Police Foundation’s board and stop funding police violence against Black people.

DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FROM BET

After George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, BET released a statement expressing solidarity with Floyd’s family and other victims of police violence.2

Their statement spoke out against “racist brutality,” yet BET’s president and parent company are helping prop up an organization that funnels weapons and surveillance to the massive NYPD without any accountability or oversight from the public. NYPD uses those weapons against Black New Yorkers.

Either BET is working to fight back against police harassment and brutality or helping to prop it up behind closed doors. Empty words aren’t enough and don’t keep Black people safe. Roland, tell BET and ViacomCBS to stop supporting police foundations now.

TELL BET: STOP FUNDING POLICE VIOLENCE!

The NYPD has a long history of over-policing, harassing, and targeting Black communities. This isn’t and shouldn’t be news to the president of BET.
Yet Mills has decided to tie his name and the reputation of the network to the NYC Police Foundation anyway.

By sitting on the NYC Police Foundation board, BET’s president and a ViacomCBS director are abetting the NYPD — and enabling the police department’s violence and corruption.

Tell BET and ViacomCBS that they can’t have it both ways. They can’t say they support Black Lives and racial justice while propping up a system that hurt our communities.

Thank you for staying in the fight.

Oneness Experience

I had smoked some weed when I had my oneness experience.

It was in 2017, I had fallen back into depression after receiving my multiple sclerosis diagnosis the year before. For about 12 hours, I was in communication with the universe "who" I recognized as myself (That's kind of a misnomer because we are always in communication with the divine, we just don't realize it because all the noise of our "separate selves").

While I was conscious of this communication, the universe guided me to the spiritual path. I was blown away by how loving it was. It was a tear-jerking experience to accept that I was loved by God (the universe/reality) as it seemed the opposite considering I was locked into depression for 20 years and then Multiple Sclerosis came out of nowhere just as I felt I was rising out of it.

God loving me seem like contradictory information but the path showed me it wasn't a contradiction at all. During my depression, I longed for freedom not understanding my depression was an integral part of getting that freedom. My "prayer" was answered long before I even asked. I thought I'd never get out of depression, then I understood it and it was gone AND there is more freedom to be had.

Have you had a mystical/oneness experience?

"You Own All Of Those Things But You Still Don't Have A Man"

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm only leaving this here for community feedback.
Was the woman who refused the date right for refusing a casual first date, or did she unnecessarily curve her soul mate because he didn't take her for gold-encrusted wagyu steaks at Salt Bae?
Are her standards realistic? Does a man need to pick up a woman in a lear jet for the first date?
Or are the City Girls setting these "boss women" up for failure?

Woman Says She Is Happy Her Man Moved On To Another Woman

The video says she is happy but I see it as sarcasm. She was trying to cope with the fact that the Woman her husband left her for was right up under her nose. Ladies what do you think about the video, would you go to social media about your divorce? I wouldn’t.

Genealogy research

I have been researching my ancestry for some months now. I became more invested after my great grandmother passed away in January. I am on different websites trying to trace my ancestors, building my family tree on ancestry.com, using other websites to obtain information, and using family artifacts.
I have only reached 2nd, third & a fourth generations. This is not easy, but totally worth it. Is anyone else researching their family background? How is your search going?

Megan Thee Stallion Sued By Her Record Label

BA0D60BA-8BC1-4894-81F1-F8315A79FF61.jpeg

Megan Thee Stallion isn't walking away from her record label without a fight -- 1501 Certified Entertainment is suing, claiming her last "album" actually wasn't an album ... and she owes more recordings and a lot of money.

The label's countersuit, filed Monday, calls out Megan for her "Something for Thee Hotties" album release last year. Megan had sued 1501 back in February to declare the record fulfilled her contract.

Not so fast, according to 1501 ... which calls the record nothing more than a compilation of old, previously-released material. According to docs, obtained by TMZ, the label says 'Something' is "made up of 21 recordings and includes spoken interlude recordings on which MTS does not appear as well as several previously-released recordings."

As far as any new MTS material on the "album" -- 1501 says there's a mere 29 minutes worth of it, and to them, that's not enough to qualify as an album under her deal.

In the suit, the label says Megan is well aware any album she makes must include at least 12 "new master recordings of studio performances," and they have to be previously unreleased. Most importantly, 1501 says it has to approve all the tracks ... and it claims that didn't happen when Megan put together "Something for Thee Hotties."

MoT #101 Census Admits More Cities Are Becoming Blacker

This Moment of Truth addition by Professor Black Truth spoke to how the United States Census Bureau has finally been able to tell the truth about the black populous moving itself around, and how the black population is much larger than what is reported. I noticed around 2010, when prices (semi-nationally) of living were starting to rise and particularly in the main four metropolises (LA, MIAMI, NYC, CHICAGO) and certain friends and family started to settle down south. A strong example of this migration was how Charlotte, NC and cities near it have had their voting partners changed by the new incoming voters.

The Business: In Defense of Black Men's Feelings

This evening's "The Business", broadcast was completely Jason Black surprised me, on the heels of the West v. Davidson (virtual scuffle), the dominate society chooses a new Trojan Horse in Trevor Noah (remember Hannibal Burress Cosby Joke before trial and prison?). Comparing the violence of Eminem to Kanye West having his spats with Pete and wanting to keep his relationship (not Judging) with Kim stable, this is not a victimless crime and I'm sad to say this will be the hill Trevor Noah (with a white father) dies on. Two of the most important questions of this broadcast were, how much longer will black men be subjugated? Once they no longer subjugated, what will become of those that abuse us (even those apart of our community)???
