Though I am primarily a Marvel gal, when it comes to DC Characters, Batman is really the only one I'm a huge fan of.
Unlike Clark and his Superman bullshit, Bruce doesn't have a gimmick as Batman, some alien with superpowers. He's just a guy. A guy who experienced a real trauma, and that was a turning point in his life. The murder of his parents changed him, as it would any person I would imagine. It made him realize that, the little bubble he was living in, isn't how the real world works. And add insult to injury, the killers got away. So there was no justice. I could go into a whole lot more but it would turn into a whole article.
Bruce is also a very smart man, and along with Lucius Fox, the two of them invented ALL of the gadgets and features for his Batsuit, weapons, and Batmobile. He and Oliver Queen are really two of the only superheroes who are just regular people who experienced traumatizing shit that blew up their fairytale world view. It made them want to leave the world in a better place than how they found it.
Now having said all that, I AM team Joker as an adult because I think after awhile, you have to stop trying to save everyone and everything, and just let it all burn to the ground and start over from the beginning.
