Do you have any Christmas traditions in your family? Maybe ones that had been around for a long time or newer ones you started with your own kids? I am curious. I want to get some traditions going of my own. I grew up with the basic traditions you would expect. The tree, the gifts, making cookies with my mom, decorating the house (lights) with my dad, we never went all crazy and did that elf nonsense though. My mom only just found out that was even a thing lol

What Christmas traditions do you have with your family that you enjoy being a part of every year?

I don't celebrate Christmas anymore. I will say I will go visit some of my family members on Christmas Day and eat whatever they have there that I think I will like. I have not done anything with my family in years since I have been focused on improving my financial situation, and most of them are not. When I was growing up, I used to like putting up a Christmas tree with the lights , bulbs, and garland. But my mom and I stopped. It was time consuming to do all that plus the light bill was higher than she wanted to pay during the December month. Also, I stopped celebrating Christmas around the time I left high school so I do not do any Christmas traditions with my family. I think they will have deviled eggs, ham, pasta salad, etc. I'm not sure what else. I just want the free food because I really don't talk to them during the year.

I know there are different views of Christmas for different people and many stopped celebrated it but like many other holidays, I view it as a day to come together as family and just be thankful. Everything else is just an addition. I think having days where family come together and enjoy each other, bond, etc. is really important. But I get it. A lot of people fall out from family and these sorts of holidays just don't make sense anymore for some.
