I wanted to make a poll on here for this to see what people think. Because I feel the vibe switches every 5 years with music, I wanted to have both the standard decades and the break points. For me, I feel the best era/decade for hip-hop and r&b was 1995 to 2005. I feel like things have gone downhill since Nas said rap was dead in like 2009 I think it was (might have been 2007?). Either way, music just doesn't have the same feel for me in these genres. I don't even listen to mainstream stuff anymore. Haven't in a good 10 years now.

The early 90’s was some great music all around but Hip Hop at that time was dope. Days where Bonita Applebum, Around the Way Girl, 2 Legit 2 Quit, and etc were playing on the radio bring me back to childhood nostalgia. Then when you wanted to go hardcore you had Onyx, Trigga the Gambler, Big L, and other lyricists like that.

I feel like after the early 90’s lyricism started moving to the backseat and anyone on a hot beat could get played on the radio.

    Yo.

Im going with the 90s, it was the period to me where rapper’s flow was at an all-time high. You had Q-Tip, Andre 3000, Snoop, UGK, and so many others that had lyrical prowess and unique flows, there was something for everyone. It started to get homogenized from that point on to nowadays where it is basically druggies on trap beats.

    Going with the 90s, but I do prefer 80s R&B a tad more than 90s R&B.
70’s and 80’s was a nice 20 year stretch for Rnit never missed a step.

90’s for hip hop and 80’s for R&B. A lot of Hip hop songs from the 90’s sampled 80’s R&B records

    Fareal? You got any examples?
