What's better? Western Animation or Japanese Animation?

I watch a bit of anime and read manga a lot, but I've grown up preferring the Western animation style more, since I grew up with it and it just generally looks better to me, despite being underrated compared to the Japanese style of animation, that we're all familiar with. What do you like most?

Depends. The only anime I watch religiously is Case Closed/Detective Conan. Anime tends to copy and paste a lot of their themes and characters and have a lot of genre tropes but there are good classics like Samurai/Ronin Kenshin. In terms of western animation, I watch more adult swim cartoons like Aqua teen hunger force. The Western companies still see animation as something only for kids or not deep enough like live action

True. The thing with Western animation is, it's either intended entirely for adults or entirely for kids, there's not much of a balance like with anime or any other style of animation outside the Western world, Western animation also follows its common tropes but it seems like it's just meant to be popular and not as interesting in its characters, stories etc so it follows a formula. And Japanese anime does this more now too, it seems. I could be wrong though because I mainly watch 90s or 80s anime.

There’s always the cute furry creature for comic relief, the stupid character(s) that sometimes is a duo…the character you don’t know if male or female. I’m not a fan of anime outside of Dragon Ball which was my favorite growing up. I always wanted to like Gundam because the Mechs are super cool but I didn’t care about the characters at all.

I prefer Western animation more than Japanese any day. I don’t like how a lot of Japanese animation uses those still frames where the only thing that is moving is the mouth. I also don’t like the stories they tell or the art style.
Japanese animation can be quite convoluted and repetitive, you tend to see that less when it's what you watch the most, I might get into watching more Western animation.

I honestly like both, however my favorite animated series is a western cartoon that imitates anime. Teen Titans is my favorite, and it wasn’t uncommon to see western cartoons be similar to anime in the early 00’s when Teen Titans came out. I didn’t really get into anime until I was in my 20s. The only anime I watched as a kid was Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokémon and Digimon with the occasional Shinzo here and there.
