I’m really hoping that they use this BRICS opportunity to gain independence. Africa is a beautiful continent and we need to govern independently and be able to trade our goods in the market freely.
The pic is of Ghana. I was both happy as hell and disappointed at the same time. Let me explain. It was fantastic being in the motherland and a country where many if not most Blacks in Americas have some connection to genetically.
The disappointment part is with air quotes. Daily life in Accra (the capital) seemed like I was in Barbados. I was thinking. This may as well be Bridgetown, Barbados. You will see someone who looks like a cousin or homie.
So, I felt immediately connected to the country in terms of 'this place is familiar'. The slave fort in Cape Coast will make you cry.
East Africans look different. More forehead, etc, but parts of west Africa (Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana) you'd swear you know their twin. Makes sense since all of us in the Americas have a large part of our genetic ancestry there. That said, the vibe of feeling connected due to your shared melanin is still real.
