I just wanted to know if anyone in the South Eastern US has seen an increase of black immigrants. If so what's your opinion on that?

I'm not born in the south, but the south is essentially the homeland of all ethnic Black Americans, and the increase of immigration down there is quite sad to me, because I felt like that was the only promising place away from mass immigration, but now it's becoming the opposite of that, and there's absolutely nothing we can do about it as long as we are apart of this country. The southern state my family comes from is Mississippi, and I wanted to move there one day, and I still will do that, but I just hope it doesn't get raided by immigrants like Georgia is, especially ATL, by not only Black immigrants, but also Hispanic and Ukrainian immigrants too. If we immigrated to another peoples country in mass and took all their benefits and displaced them, we would be met with hate and opposition, but when we do it, then it's a problem.

I have a theory that if we don't break off from the US in the far future we will no longer even exist as an ethnic group. It doesn't seem like it now, but just think about the future of it, immigration is happening fast already, imagine it in the far future; we will be no more.

I’m in Florida and we’ve had a lot of Black Cubans and Haitians. I don’t care for them much as they’ve always felt like they were better than us. But to answer the question I’ve been seeing more gentrification than more moving in. I’ve been seeing more white hispanics than Black ones.

I agree. I've lived in Georgia my whole life and have never seen this amount of immigrants ever. Its been pissing me off lately.

I personally think the next proper step is to form a true Black American political aperatus to tend to our own needs and make sure our voice isn't lost. Also, building independent supply chains and infrastructure.

Oh, I was talking about point about gentrification. Personally, in my state I've seen both. I specfied Black immigrants because, in my state I've seen a large influx of them, that's why I asked.

We got an influx in the 80’s and 90’s here in CA but I don’t think the population is growing. Blacks are being kicked out of CA.

Before the mid to late 80s, Black immigration has been almost exclusively New York/Northeast with Caribbean immigration. The largest of which are Jamaican. Hartford, CT I read once at one point had the highest percentage of Caribbeans in any American city and one of Thomas Sowell's early books, I think 'Ethnic America' (yes, I read several of his books, and he's a brilliant researcher and brilliant self hating gas lighter) and he said that 25% of all Brooklynites have some Caribbean blood.

Outside the northeast, south Florida/Miami metro had a lot of black Caribbeans for decades. Many came over to do farm work seasonally, and many stayed and then family members came over.

Other than that, that was pretty much it save Belizeans in LA after a hurricane there as well.

However, the US government started allowing a very large number of native Africans starting in the '80s. Nigeria being the biggest in population had the most people come over. I think Houston has the highest number of Nigerian-Americans. Other countries as well, Ghanians, etc. It was a huge number. Now you see non native Blacks in all the cities. The numbers vary but there is a presence everywhere.

My view is that the Caribbeans and the very few Africans that came prior to the 80s assimilated more. Look at early hip hop as an example. Yes, yes, FBAs started hip hop (before someone starts on that) and other than Kool Herc a large number of popular rappers from the first 10 years when it was big were non FBA from the Caribbean: Grand Master Flash, Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, KRS One, Kool Moe Dee, Heavy Dee, up to the 90s with Biggie and various members of groups .

These non FBAs saw themselves no different than the FBAs, there was far more unity. I think that changed with all black immigrants that came up in the '90s. On a side note, a little similar with Puerto Ricans. In many communities they rolled with Blacks easily. KRS One put Fat Joe on for example.

The problem I think and what Tariq and TBA and others see is that way, way too many non FBAs are off code and not allies. I see it personally. I have visited slave plantations in the south, and slave forts in Africa and felt the same exact way. My people. I made no distinction for FBA and non FBA. They were black people, my people. Now, before anyone starts, I'm NOT saying you can't celebrate a distinct ethnicity within that community, but I am saying that at one time and still do in personal relationships, friendships, FBAs and some non FBAs (not nearly enough of non FBAs), practiced true pan Africanism on a small, personal scale. Collectively? Nah, sh*t ain't even close to being kumbayah.

But it does happen. When it does its beautiful. I've been in black expat groups in some countries with very little blacks. And we bonded, mostly black, FBA, Americans but also black Canadians, South Africans, Brits and we cliqued up and rode for each other. Some of you on here experienced that in places like NY or Philly or NJ or even in parts of Florida, etc but don't talk about it because its not popular on here to say you got a non FBA homie who is like fam. But it happens and happens a LOT.

Lastly, as I've always said, it all comes down to you either on code or off code and being on code is any black person, regardless of lineage supporting reparations for FBA. Supporting any on code Caribbeans trying to get reparations. Any on code Africans trying get reparations for colonialism. Any on code black Brit trying to get treated fairly and equally in England. All supporting the others. If you are an FBA and don't give a f*ck if on code Blacks in the Caribbean or Africa get theirs too then you are off code. Hiding behind 'I'm just for my lineage' is off code and not supported by anyone who has a platform. I've never ever heard Tariq, Bey, TBA, Dr. Boyce or anyone say that so that's you, speaking only for you. And visa versa for any non FBAs who only give a f*ck for your own lineage.

I've had friendships with non-fbas as well. However, as you said most are not on code. I refused to be displaced and have my policy dictated by a foreigner who has contempt for us, not for Pan Africanism's sake. I see the attitudes up north and out west and don't want that coming down into the deep south in any capacity. We already have enough ese's, crackers, and homegrown coons to deal with.

Also, I and most of us have never had any problem with supporting non-fbas in their campaigns. However, I don't think we can say the same for them. Historically, whenever we've been "on code" with other people and spoke out for them, it's blown up in our faces and we're left holding the bag. I don't believe it would be wrong if we focused on ourselves and kept quiet on other peoples issues, until there's a tangible benefit for us not to be quiet. Anything else is no different than living on a prayer, hoping that our actions will be reciprocated, which again has no historical precedent.

I don’t think it’s productive to focus too much on Black immigrants. There’s Black people that are on code and Black people that aren’t and the people that are off code are of no use to us whether they are born here or not. My 2 cents.

Its not good to ignore it either. Its a reality that we need to face. No different than facing the reality of the crackers dominion over the world.

I didn’t say we should ignore it I simply recommended that we look at it at a different lens. Instead of concerning ourselves with someone’s ethnicity we should be concerning ourselves with their thought process. An on code Nigerian is always more important to us than an off code Black American.

Ok, but I'm talking about the majority, which are most definitely not on code. I understand there are exceptions, but the few on code can't cover for the whole.

What % of Black Americans do you think are on code? We rarely think about people like Larry Elder and them. We mark them as off code and move on with our day. But nowadays people are spending so much time calling out off code immigrants and it’s ridiculous when all them off code people need to be thrown in a basket and sent up the river. I’m simply saying that I don’t separate off code people into different groups. You either with us or against us.

Fine, I just think you'll be disappointed when you see the actual number of on code non-fbas. Either way, I'm going to continue to look out for mine first and foremost. You do as you like.

I’m disappointed by any off code Black person I don’t just highlight Caribbeans and Africans. There’s actually more off code Black Americans in the USA than Black immigrants and they actually empower these off code immigrants. All I’m saying is that I ride with Malcolm X and Marcus Garvey and wish nothing but bad thou DJta on Akon and Larry Elder.

We are going to have to break off from the USA for sure and that’s why all this anti-African talk is not productive. We need to call out off code immigrants but Africa is not our enemy. We will never be able to exist in the USA in peace. They will always try to sabotage anything we do.

We need to get back to basics and learn how to live off the land, push for reparations, build an economy but then start setting up shop somewhere else. We need to build in a place where we can have stability. Any Black person that thinks we gon get reparations and then just live in our own little towns untouched is lying to themselves. They gonna keep fighting us over and over and over and over like they have been doing for 500 +/- years here.
