I emjoyed it.
It definitely wasn't scary, but I thought the gore was adequate and the kills were very creative.
The cinematography was great, and the cast was excellent.
I also think that based upon the ending
Candyman will become less of a movie monster, and more of an avenging angel/antihero type. I could see Candyman being a weapon of justice against "the man", similar to a Blaxploitation hero.

I haven’t seen it, I don’t like horror flicks. They always seem to have some type of illogical scenario to justify the killer or bad guy doing bad stuff. I’ve seen so many horror movies that could have been resolved if someone just took out the blammer and turned his cabbage into cole slaw. I never saw the original and haven’t seen this one so I may be speaking from a position of ignorance.

I haven't seen it but I've heard it didn't do the first one justice. I know they used the original actor so that's cool though.
they used the original candyman for about 5 sec. that's it.

    Highs
    • It had style/swag
    • Entertaining
    • The themes of injustice and racism
    • Builds on characters from the original

    Lows
    • Loses itself at times, convoluted plot, wonky dialogue, too many characters
    • It's lost its horror feel, the purple tinge from the original gave me nightmares
    • A bit over the top at times
    • At points the movie didn't make me feel anything, it was numb

    3/5 from me

It depends on how you look at it. If you go in expecting to see Tony Todd (the GOAT), you'll be disappointed.
On it's own, I think this movie serves as a better sequel to the original Candyman than the 1990's sequels.
The new Candyman movie is more about establishing a Candyman universe than it is about continuing the OG Candyman storyline.

Troy and Grady was some bullshit.

Didn’t liek all the flashback sequences to fill in the narrative

I have no idea what the purpose of Burke was in the movie

The origin story of Anthony is all over the place, like he was compelled to go to Cabrini Green, he was the baby in the original one, but did burke create him or did th ebee sting?

Why is Anthony imagining the Sherman verson of candy man and no tthe Daniel version that kidnapped him?

Is anthony the prodigal son coming home or an innocent dude transformed by burke?

There was just some wonkiness like they was trapped between two story lines and decided to merge them into like the Council of Nicaea.

Agreed. They were just there to push #DatAgenda

Didn’t liek all the flashback sequences to fill in the narrative Personally, I liked the puppets. I thought they were more creative than the usual exposition we get in movies.
I have no idea what the purpose of Burke was in the movie Burke was the villain of the film. He found a mark in Anthony, and decided to make him a weapon. He was basically Dr. Frankenstein who wanted a monster to fight gentrification.

The origin story of Anthony is all over the place, like he was compelled to go to Cabrini Green, he was the baby in the original one, but did burke create him or did th ebee sting? That part was kind of clunky. I figured Anthony was drawn to Cabrini Green by the OG Candyman, and also because that's where his roots were.

Why is Anthony imagining the Sherman verson of candy man and no tthe Daniel version that kidnapped him? I don't know. That's a good question.

Is anthony the prodigal son coming home or an innocent dude transformed by burke? Both.

The original film was way better. This one just felt bleh to me. The acting from Yahya Mahteen was pretty good, and the woman playing his girlfriend as well. But I couldn't get into it for some reason. Also, was major disappointed that Tony Todd wasn't featured more throughout the movie. He made Candyman, and
they have him make a CGI appearance near the end.

Also, they didn't use real bees, so it gets an F from me. lol

Did you know? Tony Todd was paid like $1000 for each bee sting he got, since they used real bees throughout the original film.

I've seen this already, very disappointing. Anyone seen this and want to share your thought's on it? I suggest you don't waste your money and wait for it to hit Netflix or Hulu.

Wait huh? Ok will do. I feel like..Some classic movies should never be remade. That goes for music too. Beyoncé

Let me guess. CGI animation? And a lot of it??? Damn $1000? That's kool if you aren't allergic to them unlike me.
