What do you think the differences between dating and marriage are? I know for some, they feel like it's just a legal thing and there isn't really a difference. I've never been married but I feel like a big difference is feeling secure in the relationship and the fact that you two are building something together.
You can leave a relationship without having to get the courts involved. That's the difference IMO. If someone ain't treating you like a husband or wife before they marry you then you shouldn't get married.
Traditionally, sexual access was reserved for marriage. Remove that, dating/marriage/jump offs, all the same in this day and age I've observed. Until the family structure is rebuilt in our communities, expect nothing but dysfunction.
Marriage is a combining of financial resources, family and just life in general. Marriage is an actual commitment to spend your life together. Huge difference. Dating is not commitment.
I would never buy a house, have children or make any huge life decisions with someone I am dating.
I see em as the same. if u aint wifey material before the ring then u aint gon be after either. i feel like marriage jus makes it official and gives u legal protections and authority that u aint got when u not married. it aint like sum magical switch and wen to flip it shit become real if it aint real befo the ceremony it aint gon be real after. I seent too many patnas follow some good sex down the aisle and be miserable.
Dating should be viewed as a trial run for marriage. If you are not happy with the person you are dating, why continue dating them or God forbid marry them? I feel like if people were more open to waiting for sex to get to know each other today, we'd all make better and healthier relationship decisions. We get hooked on that oxytocin and are blinded by the problems in our own relationships.
