What the hell is he doing over there?
You don't have to screw over the next person to make it to the next day.Hats off to the dudes going into the thick of things to report on issues over there. I know if some dude with a gun was hitting on me, I'd be very worried. I would not have thought this kind of thing happened in the congo but I shouldn't be surprised. Not many people actually talk about this stuff, probably because it makes them too uncomfortable. People will always find a means to survive, even if it means stepping on someone else.
Yeah, I also read years ago that they are not paid very well either. Some do get bank but most are not.Yeah I never knew this stuff went on over there. I'm glad they were able to get out of there though. Really interesting video, you tend to forget the danger photojournalists put themselves in.
You're right about Lumumba, but this photographer is an independent contractor. If NatGeo called, he would go where they wanted him to.What the hell is he doing over there?
He should go back to Japan and talk about how their work/life balance is so screwed that it leads many to suicide. The destabilization of Congo is due to the CIA having Patrice Lumumba killed so that American and Euro corporations could keep taking the resources without paying market rate.

A woman was covering the Syrian War and we dropped bombs and killed her. It's very dangerous work.
