Another way to have control over Black players....I get not speaking it I really try not to say it but it should be left to the individual.
Nah. The Black player should've had some self control. That looked like a high school game, which means there are most likely rules against certain language, taunts, etc. The ref followed the rule book, the player earned his tech fair and square.

If they can't say it then you can't say it. That's pretty much why they got the rule. My guess is if a girl says b*tch in a game, they won't get in trouble over it.
I used to referee, and I can tell you that a girl would've gotten a tech for saying that. She would've been subjected to the same language rules that got the player in the tweet charged.

There is an episode in the Black Mirror series, where the mother gets upset and says to the child, after the child said that she "LOVED" something, "Precision of Language." It was a future where we had done away with VAIN words. The word is VAIN and needs to be retired from the "Black" lexicon. It isn't empowering, it isn't a symbol... it's VAIN. I'm talking about "NIGGA," not "n****r." 👳🏿‍♂️

That was a white league, white refs, white everything it seems like. There was all kinds of n*gga, b*tch azz, etc, trash talking in our mostly black HS city league. But to be fair, I don't know if they can say that these days. Most of the refs were black, the coaches were 50/50 black, but even the white ones were used to street language. I'll have to ask my homies, so it could have changed all over.

I would prefer us not to use n bombs willy nilly and ESPECIALLY not around white folks. But that's me. Among each other, just fam, we can say whatever. Other groups do the same. But I don't like how I see young brothers and sometimes sisters on the bus or train or whatever among white folks 'My n*gga...'..and its every other word.

Its not that I care what white folk think. It just speaks volumes of where that person is mentally that they are out there like that. It's not how a 'revolutionary' moves.

Exactly. I don't see anything funny about this at all. People shouldn't be laughing.
This is just a softer form of anti-Black racist oppression and overpolicing under the guise of "equity" and "equality." This is their form of power play and way to control us.

If whites and others can't say the n-word, then Black people can't say it either.

If FBA / ADOS Freedmen get reparations, then everyone has to get reparations too.

If whites and non-Blacks are racist (even with Black people being dead last at the socio-economic bottom), then Black are racist too.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

It's a judgement call and could have determined the outcome of the game I get the so called rule and I suppose the young man could have said "boo yah" instead maybe he wouldn't have gotten a foul maybe the problem was him celebrating himself ? Society doesn't want us to shine on any level.....hence the control that I speak of. Interesting dialog to be had by us all.

But Brother ZxBro, is the problem not clear? It has become a derogatory term. That's simply not allowed in sports and other formal settings. Is it always enforced, no. But neither are ANY of the rules in the rule book. I mean, would we rather them allow it and then having "White" boyz and other races yelling it? Cause you KNOW they will. 🤨 This isn't about shine, this is about trimming unnecessary FAT! Do we need it in our Lexicon? If so, WHY?

We absolutely don't need the word in our lexicon! My point is that these rules they put in sports are to control players mostly Black from celebrations of any kind. The young man broke the so called rule and was penalized. That's good enough for everyone I'm just saying be careful how much control we give them over our voices and what we say and how we react.

Agreed. I think this is, as I like to say, "A Microcosm of the Macrocosm." One of my best friends use to always say, "They are going to paint the house, but we ain't gon' give them no paint to paint with." A lot, a lot, A LOT of their control is gained by our own self-inflicted wounds. Another example would be weed laws. Just another vain habit that gives them power. Am I making any sense?

Ehyeseph Ehyeh if I’m picking up what you’re putting down you’re saying if we know an action will affect us negatively we should avoid the action rather than proceeding with it and then being upset when we pay the consequence. Am I right?

I was raised in a household that never used the word. I know a lot of people use it and that is fine, that is for them to decide but for me it is just not in my language. Never has been. I think originally, people used "negro" as some sort of empowering statement or a "taking it back" move. I don't care if it is a soft "a" or a hard "r", I refuse to play cracker games. I also don't use the word "bitch" or "bishes" to refer to females. These WS just use this kind of language against use anyways.

The word ain't going anywhere for now. The word wasn't even used in public by blacks until Richard Pryor in the '70s. Also, the blaxploitation movies used it a lot. It was off code in the black community to use that word in front of white folks. NWA made it popular in hip hop in the late '80s and they are iconic and loved. It was only used among black folks and only in poor / working class types. Middle and upper middle class blacks pre 70s forbade their kids to use it and definitely church folks didn't.

Tariq, TBA and others use it and even though its used for 'us', we all know a ton of white folks are listening in. I use it on here with the 'a and I gotta check myself because I rarely use it privately among my peeps.

I have done some traveling and with the exception of Canadian and British blacks, and some native Caribbeans on the island, some, who use it similarly to Blacks who live in America, the rest of the blacks see it like its something cool to use like white folks do privately. They really don't 'get it', when I have heard it.

My guess (or maybe hope) is it will less used as B1, black empowerment increases. we won't use it as much. The black panthers and the NOI were the ones that popularized calling each other brother and sister. That is some evidence when black empowerment thinking increases derogatory terms decrease.

I hear you Brother RCNAL. Uncle TBA says, "We don't need numbers, to create change." I focus on the individual. If you SEE it... then change it. That's what I'm saying. Personally, I am trying my BEST to ELIMINATE it from my vocabulary. It's wedged like "Jesus" and "God." Even when I stopped saying the words... I still had the IMAGES trapped in my mind. But now... all I see is "BLACK MEN." #B1 & שלום

Amen Sister Sapphire! Although, I do believe we have to get away from the, "to each his own," mentality. It's either fruitful or its not. 🍇 What say ye?

Oh wow! It appears that the algorithm changes the actual "N" word to "I'm a racist." Interesting. 🕵🏿‍♂️
I had it like that when I originally made the site because I thought that google ads would stop running. I need to change it.

Yes, at this point I don’t care if they withdrawal their ads. I actually made the filter much more strict but started peeling away at it over the time. I only have about 5 banned words in it now.

Understood. And I agree. Here's what I want to make sure that WE understand and hopefully AGREE upon; the CONTROL that we are giving them is due to the LACK of CONTROL that we are giving to ourselves. Remove "Niger AKA Ni@@er AKA Nigga," and there is NO LAW to break. Are you following me?

On another note, I've heard that 'why can't we use it' argument from white boys a few times over the years. It never ends well for them in that discussion.

There are so many things to say to that. A few of my favorite counters:

    1. But many white people already use it publicly? The KKK, Neo Nazis and racists have never stopped using it. We hear white supremacists use it all the time at rallies and counter rallies and use it to blacks when they cut off the exit or have a parking space taken, so, they should be allowed to now?
    2. That word wasn't allowed in my home, no white person has ever heard me use it. You have never heard MLK Jr, Obama, and a whole lot of black folks ever use it. You have never heard the black church crowd use it. So, just because SOME young blacks and some comedians do that represents 40 million people?
    3. I hear women call each other b*tch all the time. They say it as a term of endearment all the way to using it in anger. I've never, ever heard any white man ever argue why can't men call women the B word? So, since I've heard white women use it, so would it also be okay if I call your wife, mother, sister or daughter that as well?
    4. Do you use it now? [No, but I hear blacks use it] So you want to use a word you don't use and ask permission because you KNOW its wrong that's why you don't use it? Its an asinine reasoning unless you use it already and want to be allowed to use it publicly? Which one is it?

The first one usually ends that b*llshit right away.

On Twitter I casually mentioned that we really don’t need to be using it and ended up blocking Black folks! Okay, sounded kinda judgmental, I admit.
The Robot Afro podcast has the best 3-part episode about why callling ourselves the n-word just isn’t good for us. He suggests that ws has been behind the push to popularize it. Very interesting.

Between the substitute teacher and this madness, punishing them rewarding a white kid for using the n-word. we look like fools. How can we expect anyone to take our reparations or any other claims seriously?
This is so psychologically nut! We curse ourselves and get mad when others join in. No one respects that, it’s beyond crazy, no other culture does this but us.
I’m not listening to or supporting anyone who uses the n-word, white, Black, or green. Done.

Robot Afro has an excellent 3-part podcast series about the n-word and how ws has programmed us to keep using it. No other race would put up with it. And no, “bitch” doesn’t count. Those crazy who’re girls using it would never use it in front of their elders, a court, or in front of anyone they respect.
