Aside from his really late and dumb apology video recently, I think he will recover from the oscar slap. He's still tapped to star in some movies I've heard, so it hasn't ended his career like some have thought. I think his recent apology video though set him back a little bit. I don't think he owed anyone else an apology but Chris Rock. I think making that video, made him look worse if anything. Which is why I think he should have privately apologized to Chris Rock and let it go. Honestly, I figured people would forget about it, but then the apology video came out.

And even so, I don't think he's going to have a hard time recovering from this. We'll all forget about it in the next few months and Will Smith will go back to being one of the best actors around. If anything, it could result in a resurgence for him.

He made the mole hill into a mountain with that ill advised apology. Everyone was gunning for Will but Chris was just as culpable if not worse and should've apologised to Will and his wife publicly knowing full well that he was intentionally provocative in delivering that malicious non humorous comment about Will's wife in front of a predominantly white audience. It's Chris that should have received all that 'cancel' mantra. Black man going after black man's wife publicly to entertain a white audience then acting like the victim -absolutely shameful!

My advice to Will Smith would have been right after holla at Chris Rock personally. Straight up apologize face to face. Then appear together either on Red Table talk or the Breakfast club. No white spot. Maintain your black audience because we are the only ones will ride for you. So, a few ideas, appear on Breakfast club surprise visit for the audience but planned for the hosts.
Another idea, while Chris Rock is doing his set (planned) walk out on the stage and have Chris slap him back mockingly. But the first thing is make have Chris clown about it as soon as possible with him there. It will kill everything else.

But he ain't call me for advice so..... : )

He will be fine. He needs to focus on those kids of his and set them straight. Will has a big heart and sometimes his judgment gets clouded. I don't know anyone who is still holding it over him other than media and social media morons. His slap brought so much attention to that award show, they are probably glad he did it. That show was dying off.

Only he condones their unconventional lifestyles and weird personas. He's hugely ignored by his wife and kids.

Yeah Will Smith will be just fine. I will admit, his apology video kinda hurt him a bit, but it shouldn't stop him for too long. He should've just apologized to Chris in private like any normal human being would do, and not make a public statement out of it. I mean, didn't he already apologize during the Oscars and to the Oscars crew? He's pretty much done there aside from apologizing to Chris.

He didn't have to make a video apologizing to us at all. I thought it was more weird than anything.

idk, I disagree about Chris Rock. He's a comedian and was brought there to host as one. I think everyone in attendance knows they may be made fun of, especially considering a comedian is hosting the show. As well, they're celebrities, they should be able to handle the jokes. And it's not like he focussed on just her, he had a whole show of comedy bits and made fun of other celebs as well. And honestly, I didn't see it being that offensive. I'd understand if she maybe had cancer or something, but she's just going bald.

As well, I didn't think she looked bad. If anything I think she's making it work for her, so I don't understand why it was such a big fuss. Part of me still believes it was a publicity stunt by the Oscars because no one wants to watch it anymore.

I think most of his kids are adults now, but maybe he has more kids. I'm just aware of Jaden and Willow. I imagine he has more kids than that.

I think he's just taking time away from everything. And I don't think it will help the show going forward. Because it's just going to go back to the boring award show it always was. :D

This is true! I mean that show tanked for a reason. Who wants to watch a bunch of rich snobs pat themselves on the back? Like I respect the talent of actors and all that but I don't worship them.

The media, white media will always do the shit we have always known them to do well. But, with everything that's happened so far, I would say that Will did well to pull it back together because most people wouldn't if they found themselves in his kind of situation.

I am one of those that strongly believe he is going to recover from this latest setback. You can't just rule a man out in his movie career just because he fought for love. Yes, his reaction was dumb, but not the end of the road for him.

The internet never forgets and this would certainly be tied to him for as long as the internet and social media exists , you can't completely delete all clips of the act from the internet at some point In Time it would still resurface again.

I think most people realize this was out of character for him. Like he is not an aggressive man. That is likely why he slapped and didn't punch. I think there are issues in his marriage and maybe he feels more partial to protecting his wife;s image in public spaces. I think it was shady as hell that she said a few days or whatever after it happened "I didn't ask him to do that" in a cocky tone. I never liked that woman.
