Reply with your favourite indie movie from any era I’m a cinephile

Been thinking about all the production studios and talents I seen in youth. now it’s like they all vanished I need to know if theres a place they retired all that hard work to. Black cinema deserves more 4th dimensional story lines im sick of having death be the taunt while success is a 10 second slow motion pan out to them subtitle explainations of how great it ended, the production is almost all there however we ain’t in the 70s and these computers seriously sturdy when it comes to augmented reality. Would be cool to grow some kids up on black scifi or lightly exaggerated black history for the sake of self image

I didn’t know that was an indie. Mine is Whiplash.

This movie really resonated with me as a musician. It was able to convey the difficulty in playing live…the frustration, the sacrifice, you have to make to be perfect as you cant make a mistake on stage. Think about all the things you do day to day…most you can make tiny slip ups and no one notices. When you’re playing love, there’s no room for error and the music teacher in the film was a hard ass that was abusive but he produced perfection. It’s a real interesting dynamic because you hate the teacher through out the movie but you love his result.

I loved Whiplash! I've been a fan of J.K. Simmons's work since I first saw himact in "Oz", and he's always great when he plays a villain/antagonist. He killed his role in this movie.
