I'm all for it. It's what the other nations/people groups have done.

Why is that in all the times we've tried we've failed?
With respect, no disrespect to you.

Do you know anyone that owns a cannery? Do you know anyone with a small refinery to turn crude into petrol? Cars are not complicated machines to get certified, so do you know of a single Black car maker?

All the talent that we have from engineers to doctors and we don't have at least a necessary business?

It's no secret that I'm working on being a Black IBM. I want to use open source software to control registers, ATMs, etc.

We can do better. We must do better.

Not only can we do better, we HAVE done better. black wall street, war of 1802, slave revolts, civil rights leaders, tons of inventions that we see used today, the invention of american music.

But everything we actually do build gets destroyed or is confiscated and used for someone else's benefit. Why does this keep happening? Why does all of our great efforts come to nothing for us?

Because we are building on quicksand so eventhough your structure is sound, the terrain on which you built is not. This just may end up having to be a fight to the death and if that is what it is I'd rather go out defending my cannery than dying working for a white corporation for 50 years.

Yes, we have always known that we are under attack. We must rebuild stronger.

GET ON CODE! the only way we win. Period!
I hear what you are saying but we are fractured. Let me explain.

Malcolm X had a hard time with the Black Community because he was a Muslim. MLK's word was valued a million times more than Malcolm because of Islam.

FBAs and ADOS are not walking hand in hand. There are Black feminists that would cut your throat. Hebrew Israelites and there teachings would fall flat. The Black gay community will not come under the Black umbrella unless we make gayness a number one priority. The young and old are looking at each other with suspicion.

No disrespect to you, rafiki yangu, but we Black People hate to examine an issue. We like sloganeering. For example, we have people still using the word: PC when talking about computers. In their minds they just don't want to examine further. Maybe they can't, I just don't know.

No diss but it's just not good enough to say, "Get on code!"

The easiest way to get people on code is by providing resources and that's the part we lack. How do you get your workers on code? Pay them. How do you get your Wife and Kids on code make sure they got food, clothing, and shelter. Since we don't have the ability to provide resources but our enemy does, they can dangle the resources in front of the "have nots" in our community and gain their allegiance. It sucks but it's the reality. If I can't reward you or punish you, why do you have to even listen to me.

Once again, no offense to you Jay but money is for small minds when we are talking about socioeconomic and political nomenclature for our community.

The Montgomery bus boycott took a year and nobody got paid to walk in the rain and cold for something that is beneficial to the group as a whole.

Money buys my loyalty for as long as you keep the money flowing. That's not real loyalty.

Resources are never for small minds, World Wars are fought over resources. The issue we are dealing with is much more evolved than at the time of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Right now we have the 7 headed hydra of intersectionality that's pulling the Black community in a bunch of different directions. But what's the psychology behind those people going into those different directions? Resources and wanting to belong.

If I'm Black LGBT and LGBT first I get to intersect with White LGBT in attempts to find acceptance and resources...if I'm Black First I'm heading head first into the adversity. Nobody got paid to walk in the Montgomery Bus Boycott but there also was no superficial pipeline into white society to get them to give it all up either.

Despite what you're putting down, people are only civil and loyal as long as their needs are met. In a hypothetical scenario if a Black person "Person A" is about to die of thirst and two people stand before them a Black person "Person B" that's empty handed and a White man "Person C" with a water bottle, Person A will be loyal to Person C before Person B because Person C has what Person A needs at a human level. Person A may have more in common with Person B socially but that doesn't help when you're thirsty with no water.

Of all the people that fought in that war, how many got to keep the oil consessions or anything worth value?

My example wasn't a one-to-one comparison but an emphasis on the human power when it comes from a collective.

Another example is open source development. People didn't get paid to create the Linux Kernel. That same kernel powers almost everything around you.

You have to get the power before you get the resource. You can give me a ton of steel but steel don't turn itself into cars.

They didn’t get to keep the oil but they were given currency in exchange for their stealing of the oil. There‘s a reason why volunteer militaries are more effective than conscripted militaries because the GI says ‘ok, I’ll help you do x if you pay me y” and so they give their all because there is a benefit to them for being on code.

From a raw materials standpoint you are right but currency is a resource in this case as the average person does not deal in raw materials but rather finished goods. If you have have currency you can build an economic base, if you have an economic base you can then start determining who are the winners and losers within that economic base.

When the economic base grows then you can get to foundation aspects of the mining/refining etc. Now I’m talking from a first world perspective, if if someone is in a 3rd world country that was essentially a Global North plantation, they would have a totally different path to victory.

But that's not what we are talking about, but Exxon makes a profit of 32 billion per month. I would work for them for half of a percent of the profits... monthly. LOL

But MLK didn't pay anyone to take part in any demonstration. If I have to pay you in order for you to be motivated to fight for YOUR freedom, something is wrong with that you. (Not you, personally)

I am with you when you suggested that we need more alternatives to the bus boycott but that's the whole rub.
