Recently a telecommunications company promised Kenyans that they would be getting 5G internet, and they have gotten that. The downside is that the majority of Kenyan residents cannot afford the activation/installation and purchase of these expensive phones. It is said that it will cost at least $600 just to start, but monthly deals start at around $29 a month and they will only get 10Mpbs at which it is capped at 300 GB of use. If you pay $124 a month, it could get you 100Mbps connection capped at 1 TB. On top of that all, the fees for activation, plus buying a phone, adds up.
It is said that 80% of Kenyans will not be able to afford this.
