I was talking to a physician who is a co-worker. I don't get to talk to her often because she works on a different pod.

She was telling me that she uses her leave in smaller amounts spread throughout the year!

I reviewed my own annual leave in congruence with my holidays off! I found that if I did the same instead of taking larger amounts like I have been I will get a lot bigger breaks more often.

So I put together a more strategic use of my leave days for the upcoming year! Can't wait to see how it works out!

I used to do that, spread my vacation time out so it felt like I was working less. Sometimes I'd use a week or two in one go if I had something big coming up. But taking 1 day off every 2 weeks or so, makes a difference.
I'm trying to put my annual leave days off around federal holidays. Like if I had a 3 day weekend that includes a holiday then I take 2 day off in front of that and 2 days off behind it. I end up being off for 7 days in a row but only used 4 days of leave.

This is actually why it's good to have a good working relationship with some of your fellow staff employees especially the one's that are human enough. With one or two conversations with them, you can be able to pick up a few things that's going to help you adjust where you're having difficulty at work. I'm happy for you with this new development and I hope it work out well for you whenever you start implementing it with your leave.

We always learn new things every day of our lives as long as you're open to listening to other people's views. You wouldn't have gotten to know how to get the best out of how to take your vacation if you had not talked with your colleague. I was having issues with managing my transportation to work till I spoke to my friend at work and got tips on how he handled his own and it's been working for me ever since.

I don't actually wait for a larger break period, I try to give myself a couple of days off in-between the month or bi-monthly , because for a higher productivity it is good that I pay attention to my body so I can work more efficiently.
That's exactly what I'm thinking. If I take time for myself and give my mind and body a break more often then I will be a lot more productive and less likely to have burn out! That's a real problem in the nursing field. People hit burn out and just don't want to do it. That's why there is such high turn over!

I have 10 vk days per year. I use them to make longer weekends and plan them around holidays when I know I will have paid time off. I still think it is some bs that Americans get so little. A friend of mine I met online who is in the UK told me everyone starts with 28 paid days off per year. Even people who work at McD's.
