I guess it has a different meaning for males. She's a secret admirer & in love with a man that she's afraid to tell, in my opinion.

No that's just what it reminded me of because that's the first place where I heard that song, that's why it seemed creepy to me.
Man this one has always got to me, ever since I first heard it as a kid! As for songs that scared me as a kid, Black Sabbath's self title song scared me. Also the beginning of Electric Light Orchestra's Fire on High still creeps me out.
