Instead of releasing their shows episodes all in one day, Netflix may be changing things around a bit, but releasing shows weekly instead of all in one go like they are known for. Amazon Prime and Disney + kinda do the weekly episode release. Amazon releases The Boys first three episodes and then aired a new episode every week after.

I get why they're doing it. It keeps people subscribed longer. And I think it helps keep a show fresh for a while. Instead of binging it all in one shot, I can get excited for a new episode to drop each week. I know some will complain about it, but I think it's a good thing. Yeah you're paying more, but whenever I get Netflix and other streamers, I tend to get it for the month or two during the airing of a show I like anyway, so it works for me.

It also gives them more time for production and marketing. If everyone binge watches the season in the first month then everyone watches, waits on the next season and then conversation dies down. If you have 12 episodes you can get 3 months of conversation/potential virality and also keep the fans engaged while you’re cooking up the next season. It makes more sense this way.

Well, isn't that what other companies are doing eeh? HBO is doing the same thing currently with their weekly release of episodes in House of The Dragon and they did the same thing with Game of Thrones when it was berm released. It's not a new thing if Netflix started it now.

Back in the day we had to wait a week for new episodes of our favorite shows, so this news doesn't bother me. I guess Netflix realized that people were just binge watching shows and cancelling their subscriptions until the new season of their favorite show returned. I'm sure they were losing a good chunk of money.

I kinda like it either way, when I bienge watch a show, I'm almost immediately pissed because I have nothing to look forward to. I did that when I discovered "The Americans" I sat and watched that thing almost from start to finish in a few days, wish I hadn't. Good show!

That is a good point. Especially helps if they are also still producing episodes while they're airing. And yeah, I remember back in the day when we'd watch TV and after every episode we'd be talking about it during school with friends. Kinda miss those days.

They are adopting a new strategy that will make their subscribers pay monthly while waiting for new episodes of their favorite series. I truly understand this and know that it can only mean making more money in the future.
It makes sense to me too. Just sucks for those of us who are used to the binging of shows. I suppose I could wait for each episode to release before I subscribe. Just would have to wait longer.

Yeah pretty much. I know HBO, Hulu and many others are doing the same. HBO has always done it with Game of Thrones because it mainly airs on HBO itself. But with a show like that, I think it's best to be aired weekly instead of all at once.

Oh I remember those days. And that does make sense, considering they had a problem with people cancelling their subscriptions right after shows like Stranger Things aired.

A show like that, should come out weekly instead.

There was a few shows I did this with. It is kinda annoying to not know what to watch next after binging a show. Which is why I found I have been taking it slower when it comes to watching shows these days.
Hulu does this already but with select shows. It seems like it is better to release them once a week overall. When you release stuff all at once, people hop on and pay a one month sub and then cancel it. There is no incentive to stay subbed.
I remember a couple shows back when I had Hulu that did that. They would sometimes air two episodes together, or release two I should say. But most of the time it was every week.

I don't trust Netflix bc they are the descendants of the person who invented propaganda.

If you can wait till when they have released all the episodes, then it is no big deal as well. The challenge is that you are always going to be tempted by what everyone is saying about that particular movie.

Yeah it just seems like a better approach to keep people watching and subbed. I never understood wanting people to binge your program. Like for certain things, it don't matter. Hulu will release all episodes of shows like SOlar Opposites cause that is just a short adult cartoon, it don't matter but for TV series, you are better off doing weekly released.
