I've never had an issue with him marrying a Hispanic woman. Heck I'm married to a Hispanic woman.
I think he is ten toes down interested in the best for the black community. I just think sometimes his takes aren't realistic and have an ulterior motive. He pushes the getting a passport and moving to Africa a bit aggressive.
My thing is that this isn't a realistic solution. Most black people aren't going to have the means to just pack up and move to a different country. Even some people that are doing fairly well can't do and a huge number of black people are poor. Those of us that are doing well have ties to the U.S that aren't exactly going to allow us to just pack up. If you are into a career with a retirement plan then you'd lose that retirement by leaving. That includes federal government employees. Little know fact the federal government is one of the largest employers of African Americans. (I think 2nd) That's going to include military, state government, city government, county government etc. employees. If you have a bricks and mortar business here in the United States that has taken time and money to build you risk losing that to go to an unknown country where you are uncertain how that business will fair.
I just find it unrealistic and he pushes it so hard as if that's the answer. Just leave the United States. The thing is that he sells these trips to Africa and one has to wonder if that's the motivation behind him constantly saying that.
My second problem with him is that he pushes an ideology as if to say unless you are a business owner or entrepreneur then you aren't as good or you're worthless. He always seems to have a dismissive attitude towards people who work a job, build a career and are successful in that manner.
Not every single person is going to be an entrepreneur or own a business. If that is the case then who would be the workers. It takes workers to run any business. He just pushes that you have to own a business and be outside of the whiter supremacist system. I get that white supremacy exist inside of America's system of capitalism. However, this is what we have. This is reality as it actually exists and unless you are planning to starve you have to interact with white people and people of all races. It's a very diverse country and that's just what it is.
Even if you own a business you are going to have to have customers other than just black customers. You will likely have to employ people of different races. Certifications that the business requires will need to come from the government etc. Certain avenues of the business must interact with the society it exists in. That means interaction with the system of white supremacy.
He acts as if he is somehow separate from the totality of the system and he is successful with no interaction with white supremacy and they can't touch him. He fails to realize that he built his channel and brand within YouTube. That's within the system. They could decide to shut him down at anytime. He has to self censor just like any other person on YouTube. It's only so pro-black they'll allow.
Sure he has a website outside of YouTube but that's not where most of his money is made. And even that website can get shut down. The website is likely hosted and the company that hosts it can refuse to renew and shut the site down. It would then have to find a new company to host it.
Like I say I like the brother but sometimes he isn't realistic!
Who he is married to isn't a deal breaker to me. James Baldwin is one of my all time faves from the 60s, him being gay is his personal business.
In public he rode for black folks first and foremost.
Phil is doing more than 99 percent of everyone else. He's on the neck of white supremacy, trying to inform the rest of us.
Everyone has a line, some are on the Dr. Umar standards and I respect that. I personally prefer sisters but I've dated other women in my lifetime.
