Sixth Memphis police officer Preston Hemphill fired over Tyre Nichols killing
Nichols family had accused officials of ‘shielding’ sixth officer from consequences
When I pointed out that there were multiple other officers involved with Tyre Nichols murder, I was met with bewilderment. When I said that the 6th and 7th officers were not fired but on suspension, I was told that I was wrong. Well, the commanding officer on the scene, Preston Hemphill has just officially been fired, yet still not arrested, but only after a month of excoriating the other 5 officers. The media muddied the waters to make everyone think that this case is not about race but about police but when we found that the other 2 officers were not black, the racial element became even more evident.
They told us that the other 2 officers were "relieved of duty" which is white splaining for "vacay with pay". They still have not released the 7th officers name or I have not found it yet. This was not just a blue on black crime because when the chips were down, 2 white officers got the complexion for protection while the 5 black officers got fired and arrested (BARS). This entire situation is systemic and black folk in positions of power are used as a proxy to say that racism no longer exists, while said racism is actually being practiced.
