I’ll have to listen to it and get back to you. I think it could be good for those that are not exposed to the conversation. To people like us it’s the basics.
I saw value in it but in a lot of ways it was a panel of individuals who love to hear themselves speak. Kamilah Moore was great and educational, Killer Mike rambled too much, Tariq did his show on stage, and Rizza was as usual. I value their contributions but this panel wouldn‘t be on my top 5 for this conversation OTHER than Kamilah Moore.

Only part I really didn’t care for is when Tezlyn went off on the entertainer for saying “don’t diss the entertainers”. She said “the problem is that you dont listen…” and something after that and I don’t think it was called for. Some of these people are coming off very clickish and think they are better than others. It’s corny AF. When Rizza said “Black America’s relationship with the USA is like a battered wife getting beat by her husband“ he paused and said “Yeah I know that went over a lot of y’all’s heads” I was like….naaaaah it wasn’t that deep. Slme of these personalities talk to us like we are idiots.
I listened to it in its entirety yesterday morning. The only part I liked is when Killer Mike said, and I'm paraphrasing: choose the bus that best represents your version of reparations and get on it.
Because a lot of us have different perspectives on what reparations should look like. And I was thinking about how Tariq was trying his best to bring down Rashad's reparations rally.
But the whole panel was mid. the strongest was Kamilah Moore, because of her actual work in the space even though I have my own criticisms of the task force.
Tezlyn is just loud and promoting her Push the Line training. And she was the main one pushing that "viral" clip of her going off on the entertainer like she did something. Tariq just made his regular FBA spill. Rizza didn't add much to the convo. I give Erika some props for trying to make an effort. Killer Mike is active in the community but he's highkey democrat shill.
Now I'm rambling, but the whole thing of "checking receipts". Tez "half-FBA" and worked with Ben Crump and Bernie Sanders. Bragged about being Diddy's political consultant. Works with Charlemange. Nothing but red flags to me.
Taharka Bey made a good point on his broadcast about moving locally first before branching out. if Tariq was really about the work, it would've been a better strategy to hold his rally locally instead of across the country in DC. But we already know what's that about.
I'm taking the larger view. It's a big platform talking about reparations and talking about it in the right way (specific, lineage, etc).
Black empowerment, reparations, its being discussed and right now we need as many black people on board as possible. Internal numbers will determine how much power can be exerted externally.
