Saw the post about Black men not being accountable. Its 100 percent right on the face of it. This needs to be in context though. Whenever we are not targeted we excel. The black wall streets around the country post Civil War attests to that. Should we rise above any systemic roadblocks? Sure. But its not the norm.
The Irish came to America family oriented, conservative in the 1840s and within a generation were abandoning their families, alcoholic, forming street gangs, etc. They faced massive discrimination at that time. Sound familiar? Sicilians came over very conservative, family oriented in the lat 1800s into the 1900s, within a generation formed organized crime that is still around today. Look at the parents of original founders, Genovese, Bonanno, Gambino, etc. they weren't mafioso. Those Sicilians faced discrimination. You can go down the line to the east European Jews who came around the time as the Sicilians and they were never violent in Ukrain, Poland, etc, but within a generation gave us Dutch Schultz, Meyer Lansky, Bugsy Siegel and 100s of others.
Later on America 'allowed' them to be white like them. So, while, yes, Black men should stand up more, its not unique to for us to be as f*cked up as we are today given how we have been targeted. Again, not an excuse not to try and overcome it, but its not unusual either.
Solutions? You have control over you and what you do. All of us are not just all over America we have people in other countries on this site as well (UK for example). Be the best version of you, of a black man and it will pay dividends. I saw a few thorough brothers growing up and that helped influence me to be a strong black man. Be the example for those around you.
