This was painful to watch. I am not gonna go too hard on moms. It's easy to but she went through trauma herself and she didn't have a husband/man of the house to take that over. He seems a fantastic dude, love his attitude and we are all proud of him.
But it could have went horribly wrong. My guess is the black men who trained and coached him filled in that gap. Blacks need traditional families as the norm in all black communities, everywhere. Had his moms had a husband in the house, he'd have taken the role of raising an athletic warrior and instinctively know when to be tough and when to show some love or ease off. No man is paying neighborhood kids to fight their son. Look at the relationship between Ray Mayweather Sr and Jr. Shaq and his dad. Jordan and his dad. Tiger Woods' pops was one of the tougher pops but he knew what he had and showed enough love and respect to his son.
