Yes,  if it's for a civil/welfare issue(s) and is publicly funded, albeit voluntary,  then it's in the public interest that transparency and accountability should be at the fore and maintained.   The fact that the org is acting autonomously in its own interest and being very reticent about its affairs is very telling of itself.   It should be disbanded and labelled a fraud!
