I didn't watch the fight, but I heard the results. Joshua lost again. I think that Joshua needs to hang up the gloves. He had all of the advantages, and still lost. He was taller, stronger, and had longer reach. What are you all's thoughts?

I though Joshua was going to end it in the 9th but Usyk made it out. I don’t know if Joshua needs to hang it up but he definitely needs to go back to drawing board. Maybe needs to get new management/trainers.

The way Usyk adjusted after that shit was expert. I was holding out hopes that Joshua would adjust but he was confused the whole rest of the fight.

There is a famous boxing analyst named Bert Sugar who died in 2012, dude was born in the 1930s seen it all in boxing. Anyway, he was asked once why there wasn't a lot great American heavyweights. He said 'They are all playing linebacker in the NFL'. Boxing has died out, they stopped most prison boxing. NY and Pennsylvania had state boxing champs in prisons and it was known back in the day if you were the state champion you were a contender if you got out at a decent age. Bernard Hopkins from north Philly being a prime example. Not 100% sure but I think I heard he was ranked top 10 when he got out of prison after being the Penna state champion.

Joshua isn't American but since brothers aren't in boxing like that anymore, these white boys have been filling the gap, specifically eastern European boxers which are like the Irish from over 100 years ago. Poor, tough backgrounds who have very little prospects of getting out, so boxing became a way out.

It’s also dangerous AF. Americans started seeing all the mental disorders and stopped putting their kids in boxing. My mental state has been in shambles since my last concussion due to boxing. Football is just as bad but at least you have a helmet.

Yeah, it's just not an avenue any longer. Also, boxing gyms have closed in large numbers. A lot of boxers were ex-cons (Sonny Liston, Bernard Hopkins, many great fighters) and there are other options for ex cons these days. Local boys clubs and such where you could learn boxing even at the YMCA, etc, are all gone due to money issues. The number of people teaching it is gone as well, replaced by MMA and the like. Boxing is no where as viable as it once was.

I can’t say for all of the country but we have a lot of boxing clubs in So. Cal. I believe the danger of it is why it was removed from after-school, youth activity programs, and then became stigmatized by the populace.

Because of the risk of head and facial injuries, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Canadian Paediatric Society oppose boxing as a sport for children and adolescents. These organizations recommend that physicians vigorously oppose boxing in youth and encourage patients to participate in alternative sports in which intentional head blows are not central to the sport.

Boxing Participation by Children and Adolescents

Thousands of boys and girls younger than 19 years participate in boxing in North America. Although boxing provides benefits for participants, including exercise, self-discipline, and self-confidence, the sport of boxing encourages and rewards deliberate blows to the head and face. Participants...

Anthony Joshua simply lost because of poor mentality and inability to finish the fight in the 9th round. I watched every bit of that boxing bout and I must say that Usyk agility and stamina were too much for Joshua to handle.

Do I think he hangs the gloves? Certainly not! There is still many more years ahead of him to get better and try again in reclaiming those belts.

AJ needs to train with an American trainer. I remember Floyd offered to train him, he turned it down. AJ needs speed, he doesn't have a killer instinct.
He doesn't fight like he has a purpose, he fights like he's just earning a paycheck.
Sad to see him like this.

Lack of speed was his undoing in the last fight. Floyd is one boxer that made use of speed to his advantage back in his prime. I don't know his reasons for turning down the offer from Floyd Mayweather, but he should consider changing his coaching crew.
