To be honest, I don't watch a whole lot of cable tv these days, my time is mostly reserved for Yotube and streaming platforms. But TV is to me, a dying medium that will eventually turn to streaming if it hasn't already.

Anyway, I know we have BET, but are there any other black run networks out there? Hell I don't even know if BET is black run with the way they're having Fat Joe of all people hosting events. But are there any other black run networks in the US and around the world that we can either subscribe to through cable or through some kind of streaming platform?

Someone like Oprah with a lot of money needs to invest in something like this and start it up but I honestly don't trust her at this point. It would need to be someone else with money that can be trusted.

As far as television stations, the only Black-owned channels that I know of are AspireTV (Magic Johnson), and TV One (Cathy Hughes).
Neither BET (Viacom) nor Bounce TV (Shad Khan) are Black owned.

I haven't touched BET since I found out it was mostly run by white people, plus Viacom owning it, as they own pretty much every network out there.

I wish there was a network ran by us and owned by us. Would be so cool to finally see something like that happen. Especially since I know there is a want for something like it.

Don't forget kweli.tv ... Easy enough to remember (kweli means really in Swahili) .. There are a lot of indies, short/web projects, and films from the diaspora that are really good ... Check em out

I have never heard of these! I will have to check them out. Maybe if people can start building them up more, we can see something big in the next 5 to 10 years. We really do need our own spaces at this point so we can thrive. Can't do that with the government working against us, racists working against us, and jews running the entertainment industry.

We have to support them. If we do not support them they will not prosper. There's still some "The white man's ice is colder" coursing through our veins.
