Don't get me wrong, it's a great show, but it's as if the US didn't know about foreign language films and shows before this. Why is it so popular? There are so many great foreign language films and shows out there that match the quality of this show and then some. Battle Royale is a movie that comes to mind right away for me. High Schoolers are forced to fight, with only one winner to come out.

I'm all for it though, because if Netflix starts to produce more foreign films, awesome. I just find it odd that all of a sudden, people are finally checking out foreign language content, and it makes me happy. If you can guess, I get into a lot of foreign films. Some are just better than American made films.

Social media trends. I didn't watch it. I might eventually. I feel like the only reason it is popular is because the right people talked about it online. That, and memes. I swear memes get traction for so many movies, tv shows, and music these days it is unreal. They even say that memes basically won Trump the election in 2016 and I believe it! lol

I still haven't seen it haha I agree with @sourgrapes though. I think it becomes a trend on social media and then everyone has to act like it's the best show they ever saw.

I just watched the first 4 episodes last night and it's super dope and entertaining. It's seems deep but on a shallow end...like if you've done even a bit of analysis on society you can kinda see how its an analogy for modern society but the verdict is still out for me. Overall I like it so far.

From my understanding, it is meant to be critical of capitalism but ends up being critical of communism. I guess you see this as the story progresses. Most people I know who have watched it said it is amazing. Maybe I will give it a try down the line. I don't have Netflix and I am certainly not subbing just to watch one series.

It isn't so much capitalism as it is corporatism. That is the problem. Corporations destroying the free market and taking advantage of it. We have many aspects of capitalism but the market is not free anymore because the snakes at the top rigged it.

Yeah people were saying it was deep but I disagree. If you the type that be on tik tok all day, I can see how it’s deep to you. I feel like the plot was shallow and just there to setup murder scenes. The character’s motivations are so damn stupid and illogical at times…it has a plot twist at the end that is like:

the violence was the only interesting thing about it. i kinda woke up for that but fell right back to sleep after.

Agree with this. I havent got around to it but i see the Memes all online. If its anything like a martial art film , i'll probably wind up liking it.
