Women haven't been required to sign up for selective service until now, that is if this new amendment gets passed into law. Much like men who had to sign up around their 18th birthday, women may now have to also sign up for selective service once they hit the age of 18. They will have until the age of 25 to sign up.

Do you think this is a good idea? Honestly I'm for it. This is a first step in equal rights for women especially, as they weren't required to even sign up. As well, to my knowledge, weren't seeing actual war or battle until recently. So it seems men and women are going to be a bit more equal when it comes to the US Army.

With selective service, that just means that when a war does happen, those people could be drafted to fight correct?

Anyway, discuss your opinions on this. Do you agree with it? Or do you think it should just be men who are required to sign up when they turn 18?

I don't like the idea of selective service at all. I think what they should do which would never happen but is make war up to public vote and if you vote yes you are entered into Selective Service. Right now they have it that if you get any type of federal benefits you have to enroll and that's kinda holding benefits we pay taxes for hostage.

I'm all about equality but I don't think this is a good thing for women because the US does not fight just wars. They;'re starting shit with China and one day that's going to come to blows and a draft will most definitely happen.

Then they'll randomly select birth years and those people will be drafted into the military ill-prepared and minimally trained. The system will somehow find a way to skip over rich white kids too somehow.

serving the military arm of white supremacy, no thank you. I'm old enough to remember how the vet's were treated after Vietnam. I've never even entertained the idea of military service, but to be forced to sign up... naw. Not one of them people making the decision to send you is worth my life.
Wouldn't need an army if you minded your F'n business.
