My guess is he's the public face behind a consortium of buyers and they are likely all or dang near all white. The Commanders owner is seen as somewhat of a racist and my guess is the NFL wants to change that franchises reputation because of Snyder who was vocal years ago about never changing the previous name, Redskins, and didn't care how racist the name sounds.
