I came across this thread on a Facebook page and thought I'd bring it over here. Do we do a disservice to our kids by raising them in the suburbs around white people? I think so. Black kids that grow up around a lot of white people may have a sense of identity but tend to be very liberal in who they befriend and who they date. In my case, my kids are very aware of who they are and the issues black people face but they are very open to and engage in non-black things like music (K-Pop for example) and who they date. No matter how much I try to school them, they see me as old-fashioned I guess, or too conservative, or something. I just hope that they don't have to learn the hard way and one day they will wake up.

I am fed up with Microsoft. I want nothing to do with the company.

What options do I have to move away from it? I want some solid ones that are easy use and ones that allow me to still do everything I do now on Windows. So I need something I can game on, do digital art on, and work on. I am working on starting up a website idea as well as do other odds and ends online.

I want input on this from parents as well as people who don't have kids yet.

Most socials require you to be 13 or older to join, not that they check this. I feel 13 is still too young. There are loads of pedos on these platforms looking to groom and abuse kids. I think that social platforms should be 16+, and in some cases 18+. Just think about the filth on Twitter alone. All the porn, the MAP group, those weirdo fetish people... Who would want their 13-year-old exposed to this!?
