Evander Holyfield came out of retirement for boxing match against Vitor Belfort

I heard recently that Evander Holyfield decided to take a boxing match against Vitor Belfort, because Belfort's original opponent had to back out. Evander is 58 years old though and isn't looking like a pro boxer anymore. He recently was recorded training, and I guess he looked slow and sluggish. Kinda like a 58 year old retired boxer would. Belfort is 44 years old, which makes him 14 years younger than Holyfield.

I thought at first it was going to be an exhibition, but it seems it could be a legit bout instead.

How do you think this fight is going to end up going? Belfort is an MMA fighter, so I don't think he has much history as a boxer. So it could go either way. But, if Holyfield shows up to fight and is ready, I could see him going over.

Discuss what you guys think of this matchup.

What were you doing on 9/11?

The 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is today, and it still feels like it happened just the other day. I remember going to school that Tuesday, I was in 6th grade. I remember sitting there most of the day, watching the news coverage of the towers, and watching as they fell. It was a surreal experience and one I still can't believe I witnessed. Even if it was just on tv.

I don't think we did much that day in school. I don't think they cancelled school or anything either, because I believe I remember sitting in school most of the day. But, part of me is remembering going home a bit early.

I remember being home later and still watching the news unfold. The cleanup, the search for survivors and more. I still can't believe something of this magnitude happened to begin with.

What are your memories of that day? Were any of you near the world trade centers when this happened?

How many of you played the first one? It was such a great game, I was hooked. Especially once you got a ways in and we’re able to go into any realm you wanted. I don’t remember the names but the only downside was outside of progresssing the story, the other realms didn’t have much to them. But overall a master piece, the weapons, attacks, mechanics and everything were first class.

Should the WNBA add more teams to their league?

I recently noticed that the WNBA only has 12 teams, compared to the NBA who has 30 teams. Reason I bring it up, is because I think they could easily add more teams into the mix. But, what cities would you like to see get one? I mean, if we can get another 12 teams in the WNBA, that would equal out to 24 and I think that's enough.

Would you like to see the WNBA get more teams? I think the more female basketball stars playing, the better.

I kinda like the single life

You know, I've dated a few women in my life, and most of my relationships were pretty good. I had my share of ups and downs. And I thought a few of my past relationships were with the "one", but that didn't turn out that way.

Anyway, I'm currently single and honestly, I'm not looking for anything at the moment. I figure with Covid still around anyway, it's kinda pointless to go out and date. I've been chatting with a few women from dating sites, but that's it, it's just been chatting. I was going to set a date with one of the girls I was chatting with, but before I could even ask, she tells me she got covid recently and had to quarantine in her home.

So, I've kinda said, I'm done for now. I'll keep chatting with these women, but will take it slow going forward. I'm not going to rush into meeting anyone right now, at least not until this pandemic gets sorted out some more.

Cowboys were looking good last night

Even though the Cowboys lost last night against the Buccaneers, they still made it a very close game that they nearly won. They ended up leading with like 1:40 left to go. But, Tom Brady had a drive down the field and they kicked an easy field goal that ended it 31 to 29.

But, I gotta give the Cowboys props for their performance, because they actually looked like a team again. Do you guys think they will be a winning team this season, or will they end up having another mediocre season?

Mandated Vaccination - How will this affect black Americans?

I see good old Joe has put in an order to mandate vaccination through companies. If a company has more than 100 employees, they will either have to do weekly testing (which is not cheap) or force vaccinate their employees. I am wondering how this will affect black communities and black Americans. In the US currently, black folks are the least vaccinated. I had to get vaccinated because I work at a hospital but to think you will have to get vaccinated to work at McDonald's seems ridiculous to me. I understand those who work in hospitals or are in the military being vaxed but outside of this, it makes no damn sense to me.

How do you think this will affect black Americans if this thing holds up and goes through?

What y’all feeling about married couples and joint accounts?

Something I was thinking about today. I feel like two people putting all their money in one account seems like a good, responsible thing to; but that account ends up being the source of many an argument. We have a joint account, but ive never taken any money out. I only put money in. It’s so one sided. The idea of us going all the way with one account is terrifying to me. I don’t think I could handle it.

What do y’all think?

COVID-19 Megathread

President Joe Biden is announcing Thursday that all employers with more than 100 workers will be forced to require coronavirus vaccinations or test employees weekly.

Biden will have OSHA make a rule requiring employees of companies to be tested. Companies will have to pay for the testing, but they can pass the cost on to employees.

Biden is also signing an executive order to require vaccination for employees of the executive branch and contractors who do business with the federal government — with no option to test instead. That covers several million more workers.

Pardon the terrible source. Basically if you work in a company 100+ employees or more, they gon fire your ass if you get vax’d. No company is going to want to have to ensure you get tested weekly for the virus.

How do you handle getting stopped by the police?

I thankfully haven't had much issue with the police, but I feel I've been relatively lucky so far. I'm sure I will encounter a cop who will make trouble. I hope that day never comes. Anyway, handling the situation is scary. I have only been stopped twice in my life, and each time was smooth, for the cop that is, but for me, my anxiety was through the damn roof. I was freaking out. And I shouldn't have that fear, none of us should.

Anyway, I fear being stopped by the police, because you never know how it'll go. I always cooperate, never argue, etc. But with how some cops can be, who's to know if that will keep working.

Do you have any bad stories about dealing with the police?

The NFL season begins this Sunday, who's ready for some football?

Finally the NFL is back. The preseason just concluded last week I think it was, and now the teams are mostly set, and we're ready to go. I can't wait. I just hope Covid doesn't come back and cause issues with the season going forward. Last season wasn't an issue, but we know how covid can be unpredictable these days.

What teams do you see making it this year? What teams do you think will go on losing streaks? Discuss the season in here I suppose. :)

Girls (and guys too), how did the lack of representation affect you while you were growing up?

Meaning dolls, Disney movies, magazines, etc. When I was little, I remember I wanted to dress up as a princess for Halloween, but I changed my mind when I realized my skin tone didn't match any of the princess costumes. I also remember my dad explaining the lack of representation in the shows that were on at the time.

I'm glad kids now have Princess Tiana, Black Panther, and so much other representation that can show them they're important too. Hopefully they don't deal with it as much.

Camille A. Brown becomes the first black woman to direct and choreograph a broadway show in 65 years

I just saw an article about Camille directing the 2022 production of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow is Enuf. I think it's great seeing black men and women making a splash in a white dominated area like Broadway. I know a lot of people who aspired to be on Broadway were always worried about if they could get cast for certain roles. Now it seems like things are slowly changing and there's so much more opportunity for lead roles instead of background roles.

Countries you'd like to travel to, and those you'd like to move to

What are some countries you'd like to travel to? And what are some you'd rather move to? I've always wanted to travel to Japan, mainly due to the video game culture. Japan is a big one because I grew up on gaming and anime even. I've always wanted to travel to Vietnam, as I have a high school friend who moved over there years ago and I would like to visit him and his family.

What about you?

Thoughts on the Texas anti-abortion law

I want to have a non toxic conversation about this. The link below will give you the just of what it’s all about

The Texas abortion law, explained

Here are my thoughts initiation thoughts:

Even if you are pro-life and the world’s most devout Christian who can’t stand the thought of babies being snatched out of the womb, how can you support such a ridiculous law. That shyt is Jim Crow for women. You know how Jim Crow just ended up with black people being lynched…. It’s vigilante law that polices one side and enables everything that’s wrong with the other side… similar to stand your ground in Florida.

Honestly, It’s a cover up bill to hide the fact that they are fukking up left and right.

It should have never been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

Where do you guys stand on this?

So wait... Now we have to pay Bezos?

I saw a news story about this dude getting a 10 billion dollar bailout for his space firm the very same day he bought that James Bond studio for almost 9 billion. So you mean to tell me the government is about to use our money to bail out some rich dude while he spends even more money on something to make him more money? This dude doesn't even pay taxes! How the hell do people still shop on and use Amazon!? Why is no one canceling this dude?

Trump, Biden or someone else as president instead?

I will start by saying that I don't like either Trump or Biden. Honestly, I'd much prefer someone else being president over these two. I kinda liked that Andrew Wang dude, but he didn't fight very hard and we ended up with Biden, who seems braindead most of the time. I honestly can't see Biden surviving most of his presidency, he seems in rough shape mentally and kinda physically.

What are your thoughts on these two? Would you rather Trump as president instead or maybe someone else completely?

Do you go to church often? Or not anymore?

Growing up my mom forced me to go to church every Sunday. These days I'm not very religious. I do believe in god, but I don't go to church much. I will go to church with my mom whenever I visit her though, but other than that, I haven't went to church in a couple years now. I've never been one to be too religious, but I say more power to you if you are. I respect anyone's choice to believe what they want. It's just never really been my thing.
