I noticed that I am not able to wear nail polish like before. No matter the brand or the quality, everything just chips away within 48 hours. I am not big on fake nails but when I want mine to look nice, I am forced to trim em down and pop on some falsies. Nail polish just don't last on my nails. I don't know if it is me or nail polish quality has tanked.

Wow. I never even knew something like this existed, and I see females talking about nail polish all the time. I learn something new and was not even trying to learn. How long does silicone infused polish last? I may have to inform my female friends of this.

They call it Gel at the nail shop & stores. It lasts a minimum of two weeks, then it'll start to fade first, then chip. Two coats last two weeks. You also need a good clear coat on top of the Gel, also two coats. I do my own nails at home & I have the equipment.

It has tanked, and I don't even wear it. I hear females talking and complaining that they should make their own.

Are you applying a few thin coats and letting them dry in between, or are you doing one or two thick coats and letting them dry?

I do take my time and still, it chips off. I have tried everything from dollar store nail polish to $20 bottle stuff and it don't work for me. Tried undercoats, top coats, ect. and it will last on my toenails but not my hand nails. Makes no damn sense! lol

I am not sure if I tried silicone infused polish, what brands have that?

Various brands & you need thick coats. One undercoat, 2 polish & 2 overcoats. The bottles will show you if there's Silicone or not.

Normally, for me, my polish lasts longer if I seal in the tip with a clear coat. Yes, I do a top coat of clear, but I also go over the very tip of the nail. When we have our nails in water: washing, bathing, etc. our nails absorb the water, get flexible and thus our nail polish chips. Going over the tip, almost underneath my nail, helps my polish last longer. If you're doing a lot with abrasive things, nothing basic is going to keep your polish from chipping early though.

Sorry for the long reply. I love polish, you should see my collection, lol.

I know about the tip trick and tried it. Do nails produce oil? I had thought maybe my nails just produce too much and that is why nail polish don't work. Someone on another forum told me I should try using nail glue and painting a thin layer of that first and then the nail polish. I don't know how that would look though.

Nah, the oil would come from the skin surrounding your nail or if you touch an oily part of your body/face. Could also be application of hair products? Nail glue sounds crazy though. Maybe look for pics to see how it looks?

    What a mystery.

Interesting. I do use hair products cause I wear my hair natural and since it is mixed, it can get super frizzy and dry if I don't. I wash after though. And I am very cautious of the lotions and creams I use. Maybe it is just hormones. I know I used to be able to wear it which is why I thought maybe it was the nail polish that changed.

That could be part of the issue: hair products + extra hand washing.

I thought of that but I used to work a lot more with my hands and didn't have an issue in my late teens. I worked at a salon. I always had my hands touching stuff and my nail polish lasted back then. It drives me nuts I can't find something that does anymore.
