I'm happy if you're happy with your body, but I'm not going to sugarcoat it and say someone is healthy when they are not. Body positivity for those suffering from obesity for example, is not good, or safe. Love your body at any weight, but also love yourself by losing that weight as well, so you can live a much longer and happier life. I've been overweight a lot in my life and it's not fun, but I also don't fret about it. It's when I am too heavy is when I should be concerned.

Eat healthy, workout often and things will be good. But I don't agree with body positivity if it instead promotes it as being okay to be obese. It's a life threatening thing, that should be sorted as soon as possible.

Indeed. Being healthy is a lifestyle. When I changed careers I went for something physical so I could stay in shape. It’s difficult sitting at a desk all day, taking care of a household, and making sure you take care of yourself. Pack that lunch. Take the stairs. Look in the mirror often, and let your vanity lead the way. I’m so pretty (in my Ali voice)!

It's a fine line because we Black women have been shamed for having hips and thighs and so I think it's important to not shame others for being different. Unhealthy people are trying to tag themselves onto our very real gripe to get people to cosign their unhealthy lifestyle. So body positivity has limits just because we are trying to fight the white girl barbie stereotype doesnt mean we have to include people with clear health issues. If you look like lizzo Im sorry girl you have to hit the gym.

We shouldn’t even worry about the white girly Barbie stereotype. At the end of the day their men lust after us, but know they don’t have a snow balls chance in hell to get with a real one. They’re jealous of our bodies. If they could trade they would.

I agree. Nothing wrong with some extra weight on the body. But it's not healthy to promote being morbidly obese. Lizzo is a good point, because she is someone I'd consider to be morbidly obese and in poor health. Just because someone is happy and feels healthy in their body, it doesn't mean they are healthy either.

The whole barbie thing is annoying too. It imposed the idea that women had to be super skinny and fit, or so it made girls feel that way. It also doesn't help that culture has shaped what women wear and use, such as makeup and other such beauty supplies for a long time now.

Yes we need to emphasize healthy bodies however they look not blatant co-signing of overweight people to protect their ego. You can be thick and healthy but not fat. There’s a reason why there ain’t a white lizzo cuz there is an agenda.

They made the barbie shape based on white women too which alienated Black women.
