I am asking the guys in particular but ladies feel free to chime in on how much you think should be spent.

I know the standard for a lot of people is 3 months' wages which seems ridiculous. Say you earning $3,500 a month, you really going to spend over 10k on a ring? That all seemed much to me. Maybe I am just not into jewelry enough? Like don't get me wrong, you shouldn't be buying your woman some cheap knockoff or anything but you can also get some very beautiful rings with stunning stones for under $1000.

3-5k ,that was my budget back when I got hitched. Anything over that is just people wanting to show off.

You need to buy whatever you can afford. If your lady places more value on the ring than she places on your commitment and loyalty your a picking the wrong one. I would want my wife to say “hey let’s not get the 5 karat, let’s get the 2 and put the rest on a house”.

Spot on. Like the ring is nice and all but putting that money toward your future means more. I know plenty of women who would straight up tell a dude no if he proposed with anything less than a 10k ring. They will end up never married, I can tell you that much.

Yup or they end up married to a guy that puts rigid restrictions on them too. Ok, I’ll give you the $15,000 ring but…

    • You better keep your body tight
    • You better give me sex when I want how I want
    • You better have my dinner ready when I come home
    • You better have the house cleaned

Really, a woman should be taking care of her body though, so should the man. They owe that to each other, especially in terms of health. Everything else should be discussed though, expensive ring or not. Like for me, I want to be a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom/wife so I am fine with cooking cleaning, etc. but a lot of women either don't want that or they want the luxury of living off a man's paycheck without giving anything back.

There's a difference between a SHOULD and a MUST. If you SHOULD then if you gain a little weight in the winter your man would be cool with it because he knows you will get it back right and tight.

If you MUST...if you gain a little bit of weight your man would look at it like a violation of a contract and DEMAND you get in the gym.

Fair. You can't exactly say you better stay a size 6 during our marriage or it is void. Weight goes up and down for women from hormones, having babies, etc. but as I said, health is what matters more or at least should. If you start married at a healthy weight, you can afford to gain 20 or 30 pounds without real health concerns. Very few men would have an issue with some weight gain though. If they do, and they make you out to be property, you probably done goofed by marrying him. That is with that 15k ring or not but that is on ladies to decide for themselves!
