This is actually quite troubling and shows the economic decline going on in the USA. Out here in California we have a ton of Dollar Trees and the grocery section is saddening. I remember I saw steaks at one, I was like hell no! I wonder how does the government think this is sustainable...COL constantly rising so Americans are forced to pay >30% on living expenses and with the rest having to shop at discount retailers. It can't keep going, there's a clear floor to this and I don't think it's UBI.

While dollar stores sometimes fill a need in cash-strapped communities, growing evidence suggests these stores are not merely a byproduct of economic distress. They’re a cause of it. In small towns and urban neighborhoods alike, dollar stores are triggering the closure of grocery stores, eliminating jobs, and further eroding the prospects of the vulnerable communities they target.”

It's true, but I don't think I'd ever work at a dollar store ever again. I worked at one for a while, and eventually the customers just tear ya down. I found better work after the pandemic thank goodness, but having to deal with customers like that again is something I'd rather not.

    It seems miserable.

When I went the employees seemed so unhappy. Seems like a terrible job to have.

I believe it. We’ve had a few pop up around here and everytime I go in one, it’s packed. I’ve seen one with hot dogs, meats, and chicken for sale. (I pretty much had the same reaction as you lol) I think it’s definitely a sign of the times though.

What did you buy? The hot dogs, meat, or chicken? :ROFLMAO:

I am not surprised that dollar stores make up almost half. Everywhere I go I see a new Dollar Tree, Family Dollar or Dollar General popping up. Of course, in other parts of the country, there are other dollar stores brands popping up. It shows that the middle class is decreasing. Also, these cheap items at the dollar stores have so many toxic chemicals in them it is ridiculous.

Speaking of universal basic income, I read something somewhere that said that the goal is to make everybody have about the same amount of money which would make it easier to control us. Over the years, too many folks have become successful, and the powers that should not be do not like this because they feel threatened by good people with a lot of money.

Well think about it, money is how you get freedom in a society like this. So the less money you have and the less control you have over it, the more control they have over you. They basically never want us to have more money than what we need to wake up and be a slave to the system for another day.

Agree. They have to bring our country down and as many of the people in it.
