It’s pretty common knowledge that most African Americans are not 100% of African decent due to our ancestors experiencing rape from slave owners, mixing with native Americans during colonial times & modern interracial relationships.

I am curious to see the genetic diversity my brothers on here have. Feel free to post your results as well.

My background: raised by a single father Black-American father from Tampa, FL & Venezuelan mother who was considered morena (nick name for brown skinned Latinas with black hair).

I never really got to know my mother but it’s interesting how much African ancestry latins have on average, I was surprised to learn she was 25% black. My dad didn’t even know she was black til I showed him these results haha. The media doesn’t show black Latin Americans so before traveling to South America I thought most people here were white but it’s actually extremely diverse.

63% African, 22% European, & 15% Native American is my ancestral mix.

What’s your ancestry?

The first "black people"(whatever that means) that came to the Americas were european. According to some scholars there were a large population of so-called blacks living in europe back in the day (before 16th century). Moreover whites call themselves "caucasian", meaning from the Caucasus mountains. We all know the caucasus moutains is located in "Asia", which means white people migrated from asia(east) to europe(west) and are not native from europe.

    67,1 % european
    31,5 % african
    1,4 % native american

Well if he's almost 70% european how come he doesn't look like one? Because europe was never exclusive white.

But these DNA tests work off markers not historical migratory patterns. I can see a marker that Black people have in Europe, look for the closest adjacent marker in Africa and then return your result back as African. They do that when it comes to what I think R1b1a which is prevalent in East Africa. If you have it, they say you have European ancestry because claiming R1b1a as African means the Ancient Egyptians were Black.

European is more tied to nationality, White is mostly tied to ethnicity.
I would actually say European is political and White is tied to race. Why? Europe is political because it is not even separate from Asian, they drew an artificial line in the sand and said “this is Europe”. You can only see Europe’s borders on a political map and not a regional.

Yeah but there is no "african" marker, Africa is a recent "european" construct. You can't lump all people together using terminologies like african, asian, european, arab. A certain haplogroup can be prevalent in this or that region and it still doesn't mean anything biologically speaking. I mean the "experts" are still debating the race of ancient egyptians.

But that talks to the issue with this DNA testing which is why it's looked at as entertainment.
