I want input on this from parents as well as people who don't have kids yet.

Most socials require you to be 13 or older to join, not that they check this. I feel 13 is still too young. There are loads of pedos on these platforms looking to groom and abuse kids. I think that social platforms should be 16+, and in some cases 18+. Just think about the filth on Twitter alone. All the porn, the MAP group, those weirdo fetish people... Who would want their 13-year-old exposed to this!?

This is all down to the parents or guardians to make sure that their kids are well brought up in a way that it's not going to be very difficult to manage them properly.

I'm strictly against kids having smartphone but it's something that's very difficult to clamp on in our world today because if you deny them at home, they will use it outside.

It's a no for me. With social media there is no telling what your kids can see or be exposed to.
What they are learning from somebody else's kids.
I have a three year old and I have to watch what she's exposed to like a hawk.
So I couldn't imagine 10 years from now what she could be exposed to on social media.
I saw a shirt Maj Toure had on the other day that embodies how I feel about media:

Social Media destroyed my attention span so I couldnt imagine what it's doing to children. That dopamine rush of seeing a new like or response became a drug.
It is definitely being used to dumb down the population. Social media addiction is a real thing.

Absolutely. That addiction to notifications is powerful. You'll see people walking down the street on the phone, on their bike on the phone, on the skateboard on the phone, crossing the street on the phone. They are addicted and glued to it and it's going to get worse with the metaverse.

My kids didn't use social media until they went to college. They didn't get phones until they started driving to/from school. Tech is being used to normalize youth hypersexuality, encourage homosexuality, and prepare them for future serfdom. Kids will be so accustomed to being entertained never knowing any other life, it will easy to snatch them into the menagerie where they'll never leave.

Video games and social media today are preparing our kids for blockchain, which will make them the poor, happy slaves just like the World Economic Forum planned. Parents should avoid tech and social media for as long as they can.

Early social media use is preparing our children for racial capitalism w/blockchain:

Human Capital Futures: Racial Capitalism on Blockchain – A Presentation Given at the Unitarian Society of Germantown

Early social media use is also making parents and children comfortable w/blockchain educational opportunities which will inadvertently lead them to poverty which is the dominant society’s end game.

Blockchain Education, A Ticket To Digital Serfdom

Parents are doing their children a disservice by allowing their minds to be molded by social media. I hope they understand the big picture here and move accordingly. If the rich tech inventors didn't allow their kids to use it, that's all you need to know.🙏🏾

This is why I use my phone settings and alarms to help limit app screen time and to disconnect from tech. Do Not Disturb is my best friend. 📵

I agree. My granddaughter's mother got her a phone when she was 8. She was calling me any old time mostly while I was working. She stayed on the phone. This year her mom gave her a video game. She stays in her bedroom with these devices all day and night. I live out of state so I don't have a dog in the fight, but I already know how this is going to end. People shouldn't have or make kids if they don't have to parent them, my son included. Tech is not a substitute for good parenting, love, and attention.

I agree, and this will be one of the few times socioeconomic status won't matter.

I'm telling you. My friends with young kids are catching it. The level of policing required thanks to tech is unprecedented I'd say. I'm thankful I'm past that phase. My friend busted her son using anime porn at 12-13. Cartoon porn smh....

This days the internet is flooded with different kinds of people both old and young and I don't think there is anything you could do about it, but if you find your younger kids experimenting with social media, the best thing to do is put on parental controls restricting the the kind of contents the get to see anytime they visit the sites.

Some folk caught on to Social Media late and didn't quite understand what it was and we didn't have controls in place as we do now. You can not let your kids have SM accounts or if they're responsible allow them to use yours because you can see what they see and they'll see what you see.

Kids can lie about their age to access forbidden and rotten fruit. COPPA is sort of useless when you think about it unfortunately. Remember when you had so many damn pedos and perverts on Myspace, even to the point that it would be newsworthy? Now the pedos on everywhere more than ever. On YouTube, SnapChat, Playstation Chat, any kid site you can find, Twitch, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Tumblr, message boards, etc. Absolutely harrowing, dangerous, and repulsive. You have way too many content creators that are predators and pedophiles too.

There are predators on every major platform. There was a game... I can't remember what it is called. Something "blocks" that children were being invited to cults ran by adults who were looking to sexualize and groom them. One of the major ones was a Disney server. I was like oh hell no when I heard about it. Sick stuff out there. Parents need to pay a better eye on what their kids do online. Unfortunately, it is very hard to do today.
