Thanks! It's working out great. I would go with a 3090 only if you wanted to do video editing and things like that. For games, it's way overkill and overly expensive at this point.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. My issue is that if I am to spend $6000 - $7000 on a build I might as well spec it out all the way for longevity sake. The extra $200 here or there gets lost in a seas of thousands.

How were the screw holes on the Liam Li? Some of those manufacturers don't be having them aligned properly with some ATX boards.

I had absolutely no issues with the Liam Li case. It's machined extremely well.

User-centric is my mantra. I should be ready for new rig in about 10 months or so.
Does unRAID use Xen as it's hypervisor?

I do like FreeBSD because of its bleeding edge development results. Many technologies are introduced by FreeBSD and other platforms co-opt it and act like they are the original developer. It's so cringy. I'm just giving FreeBSD its props.

I usually just build a new rig, and hand down my old ones to my son. I average to do this every 3 years or so ,about the same timeframe as new CPU's but it seems like GPU's are starting to become the center of computers now, used to be the CPU.

for something decent ( hi end- ish) you will probably spend close to 4k,but if you want to go all the way krazy with it you'll spend 8-9k easy. spending that much on a build will future proof you for a while.

Yeah I was thinking in the 4-5k range because I want to play VR but right now ima dump that into 6ZEROS.

you have the same taste as my brother did, he was a Hardcore AMD fan and I've always been down with Intel, I like MSI and Gigabyte for my MB's and GFX cards or Nvidia.
corsair is all I use for my KB and mouse, been with this brand for years.
