I noticed this across several brands now. It seems like the overall quality is getting cheaper but the price is staying the same, if not getting higher. I knew inflation was affecting the prices of food but is it also hitting clothing too?

I don't buy new clothes very often which might be why I am noticing it more and maybe this has been the case for a while now.

I haven't really noticed anything different about the clothes I get, but I don't buy new clothes too often anyway. I wouldn't doubt they're skimming on the material though. Everyone out there is trying to figure out a way to make extra, so I can see some of these major brands trying to cut costs by making poor quality clothing.

yes, it is, I bought some thermal shirts the other day, these things were so thin, wash them once and they seem to get even thinner!
Back in the day thermals used to last for years! they are trash now.

It depends on where I get my clothes from, surprisingly all the clothes I've bought from Walmart have lasted me for years now. However, most if not all the shirts I've ever bought off of Amazon tend to wear down faster, and they're usually more expensive than what you find at Walmart. Though I feel that they really don't make things they way they used to, that's for damn sure!

I don't know if it's getting cheaper but I do know many brands are using their outlets to sell cheap stuff under the guise of it being overstock at the main brand. I stopped shopping at outlet stores for that reason there is no deal to be had.

So true. I remember when Nordstrom Rack used to actually stock things that were in Nordstrom. Now when you go in, it's nothing but cheap stuff that never was on Nordstrom's floor. About 10 years ago you could go into Nordstrom Rack and get some really good stuff, especially shoes.

My father was complaining about that a few years ago. The Target brand for men's clothing, I can't remember the name, they make some really good thermals. I got him some this past Christmas.

I shopped with them now and then but you really have to cross your fingers to find a good deal. Like I found some booties on there for $40, all leather with zips. I think they were Italian imports. Normally priced at $140. So I saved $100! I always check the prices of anything on there elsewhere to make sure it is actually a deal cause I have seen them make items look like they are way better deals than they actually are. Like a dress I almost got said it was marked down to $70 from $220. Come to find out the actual price of the dress was $89!

Places like JCPenney and Old Navy do fake pricing all the time.

Great watch and explained a lot. I knew these brands were making their own goods now. Nordstrom Rack has brands in there like Public Opinion that you only find there while brands like Aldo are nowhere to be found anymore.

Old Navy got sued over it! I remember getting an e-mail about it. They were giving all their customers from a certain time period anywhere between $10 and $100 depending on how much you spent for faking their sales. LOL
