Marketing is based primarily on stereotypes. Stereotypes in America is nothing but tone-deaf racism and prejudice. It is the kind of racism most people just ignore or don't even notice. They just all assume something of a specific race/gender/sexual orientation and role with it to make money. Why do you think they target gay people with nothing but flamboyant nonsense? I know plenty of gay men who aren't fruity.
