Have you ever had the realization that your "friends" weren't really your friends?

I've been through this too many times lol

I was out with a group of friends, and we all stopped to get something to eat. It was a busy walk-up restaurant, so when we put our orders in, we had to go to separate windows to grab our food. As soon as they got their food, they left me and sat down to start eating. The seating area was pretty big so I ended up walking the whole area with my tray of food looking for them. No one felt the need to text me to let me know where they were. A few other things like this happened with them, but this was the time that made it all click. After that, I stopped hanging out with them lol

Yes.

Looking how people treat you is important. When you’re the one always having to reach out, to make plans, to keep the communication going we need to accept it as a sign. Sometimes we force relationships that need to die and you did that in your story. Some people learn this the hard way, they’re “friends’ picked them up with crack in the car and now they all are going down.

I don’t remember any incidents as apparent as yours and I think it’s because I started booting a lot of people out my circle around the age of 23 to the point that I had a whole new friend circle that was extremely small.

If you every time you called me it was to get some hoes. GONE.
If every time you called it was to go to the club. GONE.
If every time you called it was to drink, smoke, etc. GONE.

This naturally weeded out all those people who didn’t like me but would tolerate me. Those are the worst people to be around because they can get you in a jam because they don’t factor in your well being in their actions.

It happened to me when I was in high school.

I used to hang out with a group of girls and we used to ditch 7 period and hang behind the bungalows. One day, one of the girls was smoking weed and a teacher saw we ran for our lives. We hide behind some trees and I put my book bag down because the running with the books tired me out. Well the girl that was smoking planted the weed in my backpack and all the girls blamed it on me.

There was this kid I hung out with and he would often make fun of me. I thought it was in good fun because I would sometimes call him name and we'd laugh it off. But after a while, he would start to get really pissed when I made fun of him, but he had no problems making fun of me. But when I do, he would act like a baby. And it wasn't anything bad, we said dumb stuff to each other often.

But, he just kept getting more mad. I confronted him, asking why he would act like such a baby, when we always made fun of each other. But nope, he didn't see the way he acted towards me as bad, and thought I was being a dick to him on purpose.

I told him that I hated a lot of the shit he said about me, but I thought we had this friendship where we could make fun of each other and laugh about it, but I guess he couldn't take it. Oh well, I stopped being friends with him soon after since he kept being a dick and complained when I did it right back to him.
