A few thoughts. He's gay. If Dad is saying don't bring home a boy, he's already shown signs. My father didn't have to tell me that and he didn't have tell any of my brothers that when they left home. You usually say that when you think there is a good chance of it happening.

He's been buck broken. That's clear. At that age, you don't lay up on your father like that. Maybe mom if y'all watching a movie in the living room and you haven't seen her in a while, but Pops? Nah, a REAL father is tryna make a man out of you fairly early and don't go for that laying up on him ish at that age.

The music he chose [disclaimer, I actually like Coldplay] is telling. I like the band but it ain't going on my social media. I'll listen to it driving by myself, no black person in sight.

Pops is really saying don't bring home a 'White boy'. His slave-son is already broken but he doesn't want to see a white boy like that. Given a choice of the following choices. I'll rank how I am guessing what his pop would rather see.

1. black boy
2. black girl (doesn't want to see a strong black couple, if that's even possible at this point)
3. tie between white boy or white girl. Shade to white girl who is controlling and will keep the money in the white community and raise buck broken 2nd generation black boys.

Nothing wrong with him being gay....IF he is gay normally meaning he has always known. Tied with Malcolm X as my favorite 60s civil rights icon is James Baldwin. He can still be a ridah. Becoming gay or lesbian from molestation or from grooming is totally different.
