When I was younger, I had a close friend move away. I think if this had happened now, we likely would have stayed in touch thanks to social media, video chats, etc. but I was never able to get back in touch with her. She ended up marrying a guy in the military and goes state to state when he needs to relocate. I wish I had made a better effort to stay in touch but it is what it is. I only know about her marrying someone in the military because a family friend mentioned running into her a few years back. We parted ways over 10 years ago.

Have you ever had a close friend move away? Did you keep in touch with them?

no. But I've had several close ones die.

I was the one that moved away from my best friend. Our families were so close, it was a shame it didn't stay that way. I eventually found her on FB a few years later but too much time had gone by at that point.

That is what sucks. Once enough time passes and you grow apart, it feels awkward trying to reconnect and stuff. I have had this problem myself with a friend from the past. Damn shame too. We were so close at one point.
