EPIC FAIL!

So I created this thread because I would love to discuss and read about some of the games that you had high expectations for, that resulted in a colossal fail. In your own opinions of course. For the games you mention, talk a bit about why it felt so disappointing. Was it pacing? Did the story jump the shark? Was it gameplay or mechanics? Let's discuss!!

Here are a couple of mine:

The Getaway: Black Monday - PS2
Issues: Mechanics were a little choppy for a then elite console. The story seemed short and underdeveloped. Voice acting was meh, at best. The overall game experience seemed rushed and disjointed in certain parts vs. more robust missions that fleshed out the story and characters a little better.

TLOU2 - PS4
Issues: Everything...No I'm only kidding....a little.
The story was absolutely horrible. A complete 180* from what made TLOU1 so dynamic. The 1st game's story was so well written where it made you care about the characters despite any flaws they may have had. You had a vested interest in the success of Joel and Ellie's trek across the country to Seattle. In 2, the story dynamic that made the game so great in the first place was torched due to a poor telling of a revenge plot that could have worked had there been better pacing, better support characters, and better subplots (the only one that WAS good was toward the end with this group called the Rattlers). The "parallel-story-telling" of the 2nd main character Abby is forced down your throat in flashbacks in a contrived effort to make you care about her and sympathize with her but her character has ZERO redeeming qualities and quite frankly drags the story down and ultimately the game IMO because this series is built on being story-driven.

Max Payne 2 - PS2
Issues: Definitely my first bad Rockstar Games experience. Mechanics were a hot mess, story was stupid, no auto-save, rushed levels, pointless love story between Max and Mona. It was a hot mess all the way around.

My list is going to be way too long but ill give you my most hated

Kingdom Hearts 3
the game was rushed and Disney touched it , The game was horrible until the end. the final bosses were fun if you like any other KH game you will stay liking that game

Sonic Forces
30 levels of Meh

Street fighter 5
I hated how Capcom basically cut up a mediocre fighting game

God of War(2018)
Its not a bad game and i am going to play it again on the PC but I sometimes like the old kratos better
Ps how Santa Monica Studios treated T.C Carson the original voice of kratos was f d up

More will come to me but that is off the top of my head

I literally refused to buy that game for that express reason. I waited until Sony dropped it as a PS+ game of the month and then downloaded it for free.

    Bioshock Infinite
Bioshock 1 and 2 were amazing games that allowed you to use your creativity to solve issues. You were able to use the elements in the environment for offense and they had amazing stories. But when it came down to Bioshock Infinite, they said SCREEEEEEEW ALL OF THAT! They took all the creativity out of the game and made a bland Call of Duty in Bioshock clothing. The game was basically walk into a set piece shooting gallery, once you kill all the enemies, you walk down a linear path where some of the story plays out until you get to the next set piece shooting gallery.

    Fallout 4
This game is a F'n POS. Power Armor in the beginning of the game? WTF. Power Armor has a battery life? WTF. Your decisions in the speech trees is irrelevant? WTF. Nothing about the game was Fallout. They stripped all of the RPG elements out of it and made it a run of the mill FPS.

Bioshock 1 (to me) felt like they dragged the story out a little long at the end but was still a great game and BioShock 2 no complains . the main game of Bioshock infinite was linear as hell if you ever played the DLC burial at sea part 1 they try to go back to the Bioshock original formula but part two felt like a dishonored clone

Fallout 4 i got to that part and having pick up the game since there is so many games that i have play and fallout 4 is Mehh

You redeemed yourself with this post after that GOW slander you did earlier.

That's the whole point of the game though they wanted to reimagine it. I don't think they detracted from the experience though which is why I liked it.
I never played the originals so I don't know what to compare it to. When GOW was popular I was a die hard XBOX guy. Once the XBOX one dropped I was like NOPE and converted.

well Sony exclusives ( Last of Us, ghost of tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War) all feel like the same game just different genre or setting: the third person over the camera style action adventure linear focused cinematic game not to that it will necessarily lead to a bad game but they are becoming to formulaic

Haven't played 3 yet ironically enough. I always wanted to to see if they redeemed themselves from the clusterfuck that was 2.

Really? Hadn't heard that about a 1 remiake. Thought they were working on 2 for 5 but...ok.

Fair enough. The game mechanics were a little frustrating at times. But the story kept me immersed.

Yeah max Payne uses the GTA Engine instead of what ever they used for the first two cause Remedy made the first two and Rockstar made the third one so it is radically different from the first two
