I know the majority of them coming out of retirement are fighters long past their prime, but were relatively great fighters in their time. Evander Holyfield recently did a boxing match, and it was rough to watch. A 58 year old man who shouldn't have been in there. And there are rumors other boxers may be making a comeback to the boxing ring.

I think it's triller to blame. I feel like we're going to end up seeing an older boxer die in the ring if this keeps up. Holyfield did not belong in that ring anymore and it was clear that it wasn't a good idea to put this guy in a boxing ring.

But what do you guys think? Are you for these older boxers coming out of retirement for one or two paydays? I feel like someone is going to get hurt bad.

It's a money grab, and a dumb one at that.

Even as an exhibition, it's just ridiculous spectactle. Reminds me of how in the 90's Japanese Pro Wrestlers thought they were king shit cause they was "beating" legitimate martial artists/kickboxers

It's why I can't take a lot of this stuff seriously.

It's not triller's fault, these dudes gotta pay property tax on a $2M dollar house...that adds up when them checks ain't coming in. if you spent your whole life boxing and you need to make a buck guess what you gonna do, resort to boxing. This shows the importance of keeping your money straight.

Yeah it's a circus show and people eat it up. I don't like it as I think it diminishes the integrity of the sport...but we're in a capitalist society so if it makes money it's gon' happen.

It depends on the fighter, and their last few fights. As good as Evander Holyfield & Roy Jones were in their primes, they both retired on a losing streak. They had no business getting back in the ring.
However, a recently retired, younger fighter like Floyd could fight an occasional exhibition bout because he's still in good fighting shape.

Yeah but if Floyd isn't managing his money right he will be Evander too. The creditor hit you with that FINAL NOTICE and a promoter will pay you $1M to fight Vanilla Ice's Grand Nephew...you gon' be in that ring.

Yeah but I think Floyd is in great shape he's only taking those fights to make more money.

One thing I dislike about the legends coming out of retirement is that none of them are giving young prospects a rub.
For example, Larry Holmes got his break because Mohammad Ali gave him a fight.
Sugar Ray Leonard put on Terry Norris the same way.
Today's legends are fighting MMA guys, other retired fighters, or YouTubers.

Yeah, I didn't think of that. But still, a lot of these boxers should be financially stable, and some clearly can't go anymore. Like Holyfield for example, I don't think he should have even been in that ring. He clearly wasn't in any shape to fight.

I think it's because they're far past their prime, that it'd be pointless for them to go up against some of the younger guys. At least going up against these older MMA fighters, they probably have more of a chance of winning. As well, a lot of these retired fighters just want exhibition fights, so they don't have to do a ton of work. And I'm cool with exhibition fights when it comes to these older boxers coming back. But it's clear to me at least, that these older fighters shouldn't be doing full on fights. Just stick with exhibition imo.

At this point these boxers should join up in Pro Wrestling yeah they would get paid a little less but it would be a lot safer on their bodies but that's my 2 cents
Welcome to the board you came from Twitter, that's awesome.

These old dudes would have to do wrestling without any slamming though. mjlol
