My brother joined the military years ago, and has always tried to get me to go. I would have applied to the National Guard, but decided against it pretty fast. Has anyone here been in the military? Or maybe even are still in the military? A friend of mine who is also in the National Guard, has advanced up in it pretty far, and he makes good money from it. But I could never see myself joining the military.

got out 2013
working in IT today.

what kind of advice you looking for?

I have never joined nor considered it. I think it times were different I may have. It seems like the military is heading in a weird direction right now with everything going on. Had I been born in another time and joined, I likely would have been a medic.

that's exactly why i got out.
i was going to stay in for 20 but there was a promotion coming in for my position.
i was passed over by a 300 pound female that never deployed and could not pass a PT test if her life depended on it.
she got the promotion over me because vagina.
that was enough for me.

Never joined but pretty much everyone in my family has been in the military. I know things are different now but I always thought it was a great option depending on what you want to do in life.

Qualifications don't matter. They care more about what you have in your pants and what you do with it. I heard about gay dudes getting promotions and outranking more qualified men simply because they were gay. It is pathetic. Qualifications, skills, and health need to matter not gender or sexual orientation. Do they think this will win wars or something?

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that. That's weird how it works for females in the military. I heard they don't usually ever see combat, though I think that was changed recently. Don't they just work odd jobs in the military? Do correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't even think it is 5%, at least not in the US. It is like 3% and trans people don't even make up a full %. They are going to screw up so much of this country as if it doesn't already have problems. I really feel like this is on purpose and I am not opposed to blaming China for it. They put money into our schools, they are buying up our land in several states, and they likely pay off politicians.

im not anti woman.
i have come across some females that not only meet the same standard men meet but surpass them as well.
i mean thats 1 out of every 10,000 but they're out there.

i think they are pretty much in most combat roles minus infantry. but even that they are testing.
i havent really been following, but lately, thats not even the hot button issue. its the trans people wanting to serve in combat units. getting their trans surgery paid for by the army and so much more. its insane.

The numbers are definitely inflated. I am sure the LGBT people are more prevalent in places like San Fran or just Cali in general but still. I know there are not a lot of them and yet everything we say and do we need to constantly keep them in mind. I get that they are a minority but in the US, they have become a protected group and still have the audacity to complain.
