Are People Ready for Movies About Hetero Black Love?
I love how trifling the first one was but in this climate I feel like they will shoehorn some bullshit into it. Someone is gonna be a trans or something so I’m cautiously optimistic.
Yes I would love a Love Jones type of romance flick. The music, the scenery, the chemistry of Tia and Larenz is as perfection. I would love to see straight Black love on the big screen again. Probably teach these brothas a thing or two.
I will go see it as long as there is no agenda. They loving showing Black love as long as it’s some type of aberration. So yes I want more Black love but it has got to be hetero intact families. I have no issue with same sex relationships but if they make that the focus then yeah I have an issue. I hope Beat Man 3 is good and that nigga Harper is dumb. He should have never wrote that book.

I'm with it as long as it's realistic. When homeboy showed up at Nia Long's house on Love Jones I automatically checked out. He did some stalker ish and she let him right on in. These movies be made for women's fantasies and be divorced of all reality.
Frankly, I don't see it being made well today. The movie industry is on a serious agenda thing. Pretty much EVERY movie or tv show with blacks are one of the following 1. White man/Black woman relationship. 2. Gay black person 3. Black male is pretty much asexual. A few exceptions. Michael B Jordan plays masculine parts, Denzel demands it and so does Samuel L. Jackson but they are old now. But for the most part, its 1 or 2.
Back in the '90s, black directors made those black films like Love Jones, etc. Today they want blacks like Lee Daniels to direct stuff so they can shoehorn rainbow themes.

True dat we will have to make the movies we want to see now. Like RCNAL said the agenda is real in the field. Buzz lightyear had a gay black kiss scene that means our movies don’t stand a chance.
I was thinking the same thing. I feel like at the very least, there will be a gay brother who dresses in drag.

I think if it was made it would be huge. Black Panther resonated massively. Jason Black ('Race War', '7am') and Tariq Nasheed (Hidden Colors series) crowd funded movies that were about basic black issues and showed it to capacity filled independent theaters across the country. These movies were funded solely by black people and were hugely successful given the size and scope of them.
A traditional black story would be even bigger. One of the main problems is that blacks in Hollywood are addicted to white validation and they refuse to work with each other. There is plenty of money and talent to make a top of the line movie. Not enough of them want to do it.
When black entertainers come together on something its always big (The Kings of Comedy tour for example years ago). Tyler Perry was working with Oprah and had some sort of hissy fit with her or whatever. I'm happy for his studios and its a perfect venue to make such a movie. As of now it won't get done.

At its heart its a basketball love story.
That can be remade with new actors

I'd love to see it honestly as long as they don't butcher it with all the nonsense that's been going on with the gay and Trans we have been dealing with for a while now. It seems like they are now trying to use the agenda to suffocate the movie industry now.
