You're right, and here's what the Arizona Republicans will get for their endorsement & money: a big favor from President-elect Harris. Maybe she'll pass some tax cuts for the wealthy, maybe she'll look the other way when AZ Republicans deny basic human rights to immigrants. You don't have to trust politicians. Your job as a voter is to get something out of them.
I don't care if the candidate is as crooked as a used car salesman, if they'll offer better schools/daycare/parks for your stepdaughter, or better retirement funds for your parents, then that's who you choose. You're not choosing a friend, you're choosing the person who will best serve your needs.
